Default 1910 Tip Top Bread Cards?

Posted By: V117Collector

I was reading the description about the 1910 Tip Top cards and came to the end which the seller states, "If anyone has the 2 cards I'm missing, I would be interested in purchsing them."

Why is this guy selling the set, if he's looking for the last two cards? Hmmmm?

Reserve bid on item?

Until it meets his reserve, it hasn't sold. If it passes the reserve, I guess he's no longer interested. I was wondering about that too. He also wants pickups only. That can be tough when you live on the other side of the country.

Could be he set the reserve so high it will never be met , there by advertising for the two he needs at a cost of the listing fee. I thought about doing that before.

For that matter, why are people bidding so high with like 9 days to go? Those bidders never win the lot, and accomplish nothing. They may argue they are trying to find the reserve, but what difference does that make? You either reach it or you don't. You can find that out with five minutes to go and still have time to decide your final strategy.

Maybe it is to discourage the seller from selling the cards off ebay. By bidding it up the seller can see that there is real interest from several players. P.S. and by way of disclosure I am the high bidder.

I was thinking the same thing as Chris and Cat, I don't believe the reserve will ever be reached (just testing the market).

Who knows, any things possible!

If I was interested in the cards offered, I would be hesitant to bid on this auction because:

1) unclear scans,
2) Seller hasn't sold anything since last year,
3) Seller only has sold 10 items (and bought 18).

Are these concerns unreasonable? What am I missing?

Steve- I knew you were the high bidder, and I even went to your website and saw pictures of your lovely family (nice cat!). But this seller clearly knows he has something valuable, he didn't find these in a flea market. I understand why some people choose to bid early, but when I sell on ebay, the lots are almost always won by someone who didn't bid until the last ten seconds. The early bidders are high for six plus days them lose in the last moment, virtually every time.
