Default OLD Pennant: Treasure or Junk?

Posted By: Anonymous

I collect old White Sox pennants and bought this on ebay a few years ago.

It is navy blue felt and the letters are stitched into the felt

(can't tell you what type of stitching - some sort of crochet-like deal).

I am 95% sure it is legitimately from sometime between 1905 and 1910,

but I just don't know what it is.

It came from a lot that included a bunch of old cards and postcards

in the 1905-1910 range. Supposedly everything came from a trunk

found in an attic. As an example of the other stuff included in the

lot (the only thing I remembered to save info on) were several

1907 Geo. W. Hull postcards. The cards and postcards in the lot all sold

for good prices, so I assume the savvy collectors determined that

the lot was legit.

The trunk-attic came from the Chicago area and the cards were about an equal

mix of Cubs and White Sox, so I have no idea whether this would be a Cubs or Sox

pennant (both used a blue and white color scheme at the time). Or maybe it's not

even baseball related????

Anyone know what I have here? Is it something special, or just something

someone's grandma made for them? If you need any more info or close pictures

of the stitching, let me know.
