Default Discussion: Design Ideas For Net54 Pins at the National

Hi Everyone,

As many of you know, for the last four years Leon has distributed Net54Baseball pins for free at his table during the National. Chris "Bubba" Lamb (peterose4hof) has generously produced and donated them to the board each year. This year, since Leon is not attending the Atlantic City show, Robert Edward Auctions will have the pins available for board members all week (while supplies last) at the National at booths 661 and 760. This is the first National at which we've ever had a table, so we'd like to meet as many board members as possible and put faces with names of the collectors who have enjoyed our auctions for many years.

With that said, in order to have pins made, we need a design that Chris can work with. Past pins have been based off cards (Goudey Ruth and D304 Cobb, for example), while last year's was the Sgt. Pepper/Hall of Famers design. Understanding that there will likely be many suggestions floated out, we'd like to see if one gains more support than another in the coming days. If it looks like a consensus of some sort has been reached, we'll move forward with that design; if not, we'll come up with one that will look great. Our goal here is just to continue the tradition that many board members have enjoyed for the last several Nationals.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone suggests!

Brian

Thanks Brian. I have some ideas in mind if there isn't a consensus or if the interest level on the design is nil. We just need to have something to the printer in the next week or so....here are the past designs.

The Herzog is a great idea.

I might also suggest something like this. I could make the image bigger and add more text with the date and location if needed.

Looking forward to seeing what creative designs everyone comes up with.

If no good ideas come forth, the backup plan is a photo of Leon in a net54 bikini.

+1. The logo doesn't take away from the image and as noted, there is still room.

Default Pin submission

Awhile back I made this post http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=219861 and it was quite popular so I made a design based of the photo from it.

It would be awesome to have it be picked as the pin for this year.

I suggest Lou Gehrig for this year's pin - either his 1933 or 1934 Goudey cards - or better yet, put images of both cards on the pin. BTW, June 2nd, was the 75th anniversary of Gehrig's death.

Val
or...the 75th Anniversary of .406 and The Streak!

Is that too modern?

I second Val's Lou Gehrig suggestion. 34 Green background leaves room for net 54 or use portrait and put net54 says on the bottom ...

That's a fantastic team photo and I really like how you combined it with the T206 cards. That explains why so many of the Giants players are wearing sweaters. Very cool!

Since it is in Johnny's town, how about a cool piece of T206 scrap? Speaking of which, where's Johnny?

Default Max's Photo would be an awesome choice for a pin

I think Max's photo with the overlay of T206s would be a cool choice. My guess would be that the pins would have to be much larger than previous ones to accommodate this design.

After checking out all of the suggestions on this thread, I would definitely choose the T206 overlay.
Past pins have always had the more iconic Hall Of Famers, Ruth, Cobb, etc. Net54 and collecting is not just about Hall Of Famers, home runs and hitting streaks. It is also about a bunch of common players and this detective work shows where several players cards were selected from. Whichever pin is selected, I will love to pick one up whichever day I go.

Default Net54baseball 2016 National Pin Design

The Common Man reigns.
This is the pin we are going with. Thanks to Max for the design and Brian Dwyer (REA) for helping disburse them at the National.

As has been done in the past we can make a list of folks who want one and I can make sure one gets sent to them. It will be in first come, first served order, of folks visiting the National first (and that is where they will be anyway) and then folks who ask for one here, to my email at leon@net54baseball.com, until the supply runs out. FIFO ... But we have always had plenty for a first round of everyone who wants one in the past and I expect that to be the case this year too...

Thanks Leon!

Love the choice of Max's creation of the T206s overlay of the Giants' team photo.

Thanks to Leon, Chris, Max, and REA.

Looking forward to this year's National!

I am all for this design, I love what Max did. I also share Patrick's question: will the pins be a little bigger this year than they were last year? The amount of detail in the image might get lost if the pin is too small.

I didn't know there were pins. That is cool. Are there any sgt pepper pins left?

How about a cut-out of Di Maggio's '38 big head Goudey with the Net54 logo on his cap?

edited: whoops, I didn't see that one had already been picked, very nice!

Thanks again, Brian.

Pins were received yesterday and some are on the way to Big D too, so I can disburse some that members have requested. I found this one (below) from an earlier year too.....I have yet to see the finished product of the new ones....They will be at the National booths 661 and 760.

Leon, your shipment of pins went out in today's mail. You should have them by Monday or so.

Great job on the design Max....they turned out really cool!
