I thought a good topic might be about the mental "I want it now" aspect of our collecting. As ya'll know I just had a few cards go off of ebay. It was interesting to see that most buyers are the same way I am. Once we win something we just can't wait to get it. And as Jay M. would say...."yeah, I am excited about getting it, then I get it, put it in my safety deposit box, and forget about it, basically " With most buyers, and this might be a mistake, I will send the card(s) out as soon as I get their address via email. Of course if I was selling something for a lot of money I would need to know the seller very well to do that. Several of the buyers emailed me and asked about getting their cards out asap and gave pretty good stories, which I have absolutely no probs with. I always oblige as I like mine quick too. One other thing, a disgruntled board member actually emailed me and asked why, with all of my auctions, there was no thread about my cards. I politely told him that I don't sell trimmed cards without mentioning it or else I would get slammed too..He said he has great feedback.. My question would be "so does that now make the card not trimmed?"..it's really that easy....regards all

I sell often Leon and since 1998 on ebay, I have never held a check for less than $500. I ship right away, I figure a person's reputation is worth alot more. Most people are honest. I had 1 bounced check, it was for $30 and the guy made good on it. I have also shipped $8000 worth of cards immediately upon receiving payment but like you said, I need to be very familiar with whom I am dealing with, Hi JC! dan.

I must also mention when You (Leon) bought the schutter Johnson from me, I did hold your check for 6 weeks.

A couple weeks ago i paid about double what a card i really wanted was worth just so the guy would end the auction early, paid him by paypal so he would ship the next day then the guy ended up not mailing the card for 10 days.....Needless to say i was a little mad but then it turned to happiness when i got the card

Hello Dan, you are correct once again on your statement of shipping high dollar cards without putting a hold on my check. You over achieved in our transaction and you even let me name the price! You are an honest and funny person, which are good qualities in our hobby. I do think you are out of luck on the PSA deal. You have no hard facts to support your claim (I and many others believe you though). Your word against theirs. I might start at the top and use a lot of SUGAR when dealing with them.

before my money order has arrived. It occasionally happens, usually with people I've alreasdy bought a lot of stuff from. i was once very embarassed when I sent, and told seller I'd sent, a Money Order by Priority mail to Chicago, and he promptly send out the card. Berkeley being the "***hole of the universe" for sending mail, my Priority mail money order arrived in Chicago 3 weeks later!

I was very flattered a couple of weeks ago when seller wrote "since your feedback is so good" --yes, but I only had 33! (that were avilable for him to look at)"you may send a personal check and I won't wait for it to clear." I really got a kick out of using one of my new (O.K. QUIT LAUGHING!) "Winnie-the Pooh" checks--seller also enjoyed it.

On the few occasions when I've sold things, I tend to hold the check until the sold object has arrived--because of good old Berkeley being so unreliable at sending stuff. Right now the P.O. owes me $414.00 for an overnight express money order that never arrived (I sent a second one) where I sent it...

would realize that many of the board members and other ebayers ARE NOT dealers - we have children who get sick, some of us have no back-up (my dog can lick envelopes, but that's it), we have day jobs that require a lot of our time, we don't live next door to a Post Office, etc,etc...

If I found an unknown Corcoran Old Judge variation, and John bought it from me...even if he paid with Paypal ...I would hold it for weeks on end, dragging out the transaction with poor excuses. It would be for his own good since he would enjoy it that much more once he finally received it!

My sentiments exactly.
