Default Autograph Authentication

I am thinking of buying a collection of New York Highlanders autographs, and I have several questions?
Who is the best company to have them authenticated........
I don't want them encapsulated, I want to display them in a binder. Is it accepted by collectors to put grading stamps on the back of the autograph like they do photographs............

Looking for your help,
Gary McNabb

Personally, I would go with either PSA or Beckett (IE-Not JSA). If you let these companies know when submitting, you can request a Full COA letter and they will put the sticker on the letter instead of the item itself. Good Luck.

If the autographs are rare you would get a letter of authenticity. It would have a photo of the item and you can put the sticker on the letter instead of the item.

Why? Apart from Griffith--and he's marginal--none of those signatures are particularly valuable. And none are routinely forged. How many Highlander collectors do you think there are? There is very little demand for those signatures.

If you want confirmation, or to look at other examples, post your signatures here. Save your money.

David......I don't believe in grading when it comes to cards or my photo's because I always buy from collectors who I trust. I also bought these autographs from person I trust also (Kevin K )
I'm not sure why except the paperwork might look good in my binder !
I don't really care about the worth, I have a passion for anything Highlander and will cherish these forever !! I'm really happy to have them and will be looking for more.......

I only mentioned value as it is a motive for forgery. I, too, collect Highlander autographs and artifacts, with a particular emphasis on the 1903 team.
With the exception of Griffith, I don't think I've seen a forgery of any of those signatures.

Wow, David, your 1903 New York Highlander autograph emphasis is truly ambitious.

Just curious; how complete is your collection of autographs from that team?

Do you include the team owner and other team officials among that emphasis too ?

Could not help but notice several infrequent/rarely encountered autograph names of former Detroit Tigers among the 1903 Highlander roster (Deering, Beville, Courtney, Elberfeld, Greene, Long).

My thanks for sharing your insight.

Not all that complete, of course. I've got the starting infield: Jack O'Connor C, John Ganzel 1B, Jimmy Williams 2B, Kid Elberfeld SS, Wid Conroy 3B. One outfielder, Dave Fultz, and pitchers, Jack Chesbro, Clarke Griffith, Jess Tannahill, Harry Howell, and Ambrose Puttmann. I've also got owner Frank Farrell.

I definitely agree with your taking the autographs directly to the PSA office here in NJ ( I live about a mile away) Make sure you tell them you will pick the order up when it is complete. Saves a TON in shipping charges. Good luck.
