Default Best Thing I Saw At The National

Couldn't tell if they were joking or not, but they didn't seem amused. I wonder if they would have traded for a bag of Doritos?

I saw someone selling $20 bill for $17. I figured it was a joke, so didn't ask if I could buy it. Lol

Best thing I saw at the National was when I sat down at a PSA table to ask a question and a guy next to me was negotiating with a PSA rep on the grading of about 80 T3 Turkey Reds that his family had discovered when settling an estate. I complimented him on the cards, and he handed me the top two cards on the pile, both of which were Cy Young in approx. EX condition. It was an unbelievable sight!!

Default Negotiating

Watching my friend trying to negotiate with a guy a 3200ct box of vintage (My friend is a notorious low-baller) and the guy got so mad he said "Hand me the box.....now....leave my table" Priceless.....serves him right for trying to low-ball so bad.

Teds W600 Matty. What a beauty. Glad he didn't let it walk away.

Also a lot of good T205's that helped comfirm some more of my theories. Will post on this later though.

Best thing for me was seeing Dan M's dad again. He is 91 (I believe) and sharp as a tack.

+1. Being "sharp as a tack" is what enables "Pops" to continue staying a step or two ahead of his son!!

Although not nearly as valuable as the E107 collection, the E98 collection, the blue T206 Old Mill, etc., I got a big charge out of seeing the uncut sheet of the E121/80 set (but, then again, I like the real-photo b & w cards!).

I have to agree with Leon, seeing Pops Mckee. You know someone is special and thought of so highly in this collecting world when eveyone refers to him as Pops.

Default Most Amazing, required a doubletake!

Five Babe Ruth Sport Kings in a row and Two Ty Cobbs Sport Kings right beneath the Ruths in one dealers showcase. I love those Goudey Sport Kings

Was there a guy there who had at least (and yes I'm totally serious) 20 1952 Topps Mantles ranging from PSA 1 - PSA 8 in a showcase? I saw him set up and it was truly amazing. He said he had a PSA 9 at home.

Wasn't there myself, but this was reported as one of the best sightings at the National over on the Non-sport board...

I was told it took about 3 hours for it to sell. He was doing it to see if any one was looking in his case.. Supposedly had some high end signatures in there with it.
