Default n162 question

I don't know if this is limited to the Anson card, this is where i have observed it, but some appear to have no writing on the back under the Goodwin & Co., for example:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1888-N162-Go...item20c8f07aa7

While others have additional writing that I can't quite read, for example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...vip=true&rt=nc

Does anyone know the story here? Thanks.

It reads "Geo. Harris & Sons, Lith..."

I vaguely remember we had a thread about this once, but the details escape me. I think Ted Z. knows something about it.

Out of the two 8-card baseball sets I recently started selling, it's an even split.

Haven't checked the non-baseball ones.

Peter, I think you've gotten your answer, unless we didn't understand the question: out of my 16 N162 baseball players, 8 had the writing (which Barry described).

Scott, I am interested in knowing WHY some have writing and some don't. Maybe it's self-evident but not to me?

Sorry, don't know the answer to that one, but my guess would be that they began printing without, then added it, so the withouts would be older.

Also, I checked my non-baseball N162's, and the split was 23 without, 2 with.

Default N162 Trademark

Peter

This 4 year old thread may answer your question regarding the fine print Trademark that was printed on all 50 cards in this
set......and, also was not printed on them.

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...N162+trademark

In the past 22 years, I have put together 3.5 sets of these beautiful cards. If you have any other questions on this subject,
I will try and answer them.

Peter-N162s had two printings. One printing had the extra line, one did not. There are other less obvious differences between the two printings. If you look at the box at the bottom of the obverse of the card with the "Old Judge & Gypsy Queen" line you will notice that one printing has a brownish box around it and the other a blackish box. The version with the blackish box also has more vibrant colors in the player images.

Great info as always guys.

I can't tell ya'll how much better this place is when folks will share a little info. My favorite people on the board, and in the hobby, are those who share.
