To respond to my own post, let me start by correcting errors that were made in the prior one regarding one-hit wonders:

1)Time Won't Let Me by the Outsiders was not a one-hit wonder--they had strong follow-ups with Respectable and Girl in Love.

2)Incense & Peppermints by the Strawberry Alarm Clock was also not a one-hit wonder. They had a solid follow-up hit with Absolutely Right.

3)Don't Talk To Strangers by the Beau Brummels was not a one-hit wonder either. I would guess that both Laugh Laugh and Just a Little were bigger hits.

Hey Jim- you know your music! And "Laugh Laugh" was a great song, I never even heard of the other one.

Weren't The Cyrkle a one hit band, with "Red Rubber Ball"?

Good for you, Jim!

The Ramones were better than The Clash, and The Raspberries were not a one-hit wonder either. "Go All The Way" was big, but so was "I Wanna Be With You."

Just play me some good ole "Rock" from the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's....and early 1980's.....or,
some Dave Brubeck, Lionel Hampton, George Shearing, or the "jazz-rock" style of Chicago....
it's music I can really enjoy and lyrics I can understand.

And, as far as I'm concerned...."THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED"....was a day in the mid-1980's.

Shortly, after Fleetwood Mac, Hall & Oates, Kim Carnes, Melissa Manchester, and Blondie
left the scene.

Red Rubber Ball was written by Paul Simon who almost immediately regretted it, calling it in later years the "silliest song" he has ever written. However I liked it--song peaked at #2 as I just learned from XM radio last week. The Cyrkle followed up Red Rubber Ball with a medium hit entitled "A Turned Down Day".

At the end of the day this is a vintage baseball card chatboard. Lets talk about cards again. BTW, since there has been so much OT lately lets try to limit it for a few days....
