Default T206 upside down back scarcity/ let's get a count

Hello all......

As you know i love the T206 freaks....i have been collecting them since 1998 give or take.....I have been discussing this with other hard core t206 collectors and would like to test the waters....

I have personally only seen about 15 or more examples roughly....I own 4 myself....a piedy 350, piedy 150, om scrap uppie and a sweet cap uppie...which took years to acquire and thanx to fellow board members like Mike Healer, Mac Wubben, Mike Brailey ect...they are in my opinion super toughies....

a few examples off the top of my head:
My friend owns 4 nice ones that make a mini sheet(maybe he will post)

Jamie's Cy young...

I know who owns the 2 other om uppies that came off the same sheet as my Thebo scrap (great pick ups ) Steve and Jamie...wise purchases.....Chris Brown's sweet 4 back om scrap is another(hind sight that i should've jumped on that one, but glad my friend Chris got it... is another...Wonk's sweet pick up recently...Jimmy's Hot Batch that is one of the nicest examples i have seen

There are a few others...the Levy's have one or 2 I beleive or have owned in the past....and i'm sure Dan prob has ten or moreLOL only kidding..

SO....scrap or factory cut, doesnt matter....

SHOW US YOUR UPPIES
Let us know/post a scan if you own one~!!

If not, tell us about you sightings....i'm wondering how many actually exist, and i wouldn't say more than 100??????? examples are prob out there??...

I would guesstimate that if you multplied by ten for the ones tucked away in old timers or guys who just don't read this board.....

example 15 spotted..... 10 times 15= 150 total examples that probaby exist???

but i'm more inclined to think prob not more than 50 exist

Tell us what u think

Peace

Johnny

Nice thread Johnny but I don't see yours! There is a very sweet Dubuc SC out there. What about printing test scraps, Leon's and the recent REA McGraw?

Since most of these are also miscut by a similar amount the top border of the sheet must have been different then the bottom.

Thanks to Jim R & Johnny for calling me on this example.

I think I have seen a few more than 15 over the years but I still think these are Broad Leaf 460 rare.

Thanks Jim B, definitely one of my top 5 cards.

One of my favourites out there, anyone know who currently owns it?

Johnny I think this one is yours.

Johnny

I have scans of a few. I'll hold off to let the owners post them up. If they don't in a day or two, I'll post the 4 scans that I have saved.

King OM (black)

Default Dubuc

Johnny,

Here you go....sorry for the delay in posting it.

Another one that I know of, but haven't seen for many years, is a Kisinger Sweet Caporal. From what I can remember, the back looked very similar to this Dubuc (pretty well centered, two backs showing).

Thanks guys!!

Great to hear from all of you and thanks for the scans......

Excellent work.....

Looks like about 20 so far accounted for, they are all the ones i have seen through out the years.....

I was guesstimated i have seen about 2 dozen ......over the years....

Maybe there are only 50-100 that exist????????????????

This is great work.....as Jim said, these are bl 460 tough, or tougher!!!

Keep 'em coming if we can find some more.....

Does anyone have any opinions of how many might exist??????

I thought we might see some examples that haven't been seen.....

If u have an uppy, PLEASE POST A SCAN

and if u own one, you are a lucky bastard

I realize that its been several years and no doubt more T206 "Upside Down" backs have been found. I just wanted to throw mine into the count. I have a Stoney McGlynn Cycle Upside Down back that is on its way back from SGC. It graded a 20. I'd be happy to post an image of it when I get it back if anyone is interested. Not that I'd sell it, but I haven't seen any other Cycle "Uppies" before. Are there others???

Nice cards. I think I have one in my collection. I would have bought it in the early 1980's as a common card back then. I will look tonight after church service and post a scan.

OK Here is what I have. Like I said previously, I bought this as a common in the early 1980's. I probably paid $1.00 or $2.00 for it.
Is it enough to put my daughter through college or would it just buy her first text book????????

Holy Yikes! I had no idea it would be worth that much. Wow Merry Christmas to me........and Happy Holidays to everyone.

To those who pm'd me, I will answer all sometime today. I did not post this with the intention on selling but just to show a new card that everyone may not have seen before. However, I may to check my options now......
Thanks,

Don't take the first offer, Robert. My experience is that these are the ones trying to steal it. Since you didn't know that it was worth much, I'd suggest you auction it and let the market decide. You'll be pleased you did and I would be very surprised if it didn't surpass all of the offers you've gotten.

Wow, not only is it an upside down back, it has a sliver to the left of a third back! Plus a slight color shift on the front. If consigned to an auction house, my guess is $3,834.73. (Ballpark estimate!! )

Default Robert....

Plus +1 to what everyone is saying!!

your card is very desirable because of some "fat ass" border......color shift/ missing ink on front......3 back upside down tolstoi......I want my scrap to be "beaten" up a little....gives them character.........your card is basically a scrap hunters dream....

congrats!

my estimate would be between 3k-4k....

Johnny,

Chris posted a scan of the Kisinger Sweet Caporal I remember seeing (see post #9). It's definitely the same one. Just don't want you to double-count it.

Love the upside down Tolstoi! Cool card.
