Wow!!

This confirms my suspicions--Felix Mendelsohn was responsible for publishing m101-4. His "cards" were purchased by TSN and others-- I would bet that the other advertisers paid Mendolsohn, not TSN, for the right to place their ads on the back and/or simply bought the sheets from him directly and took the liberty of printing their own ads.

I believe that Mendolsohn also published m101-6, but there are still some mysteries about that set and m101-5. Also, the Mendolsohn ad in TSN from 1916 has a pic of Derrill Pratt (actual size) that is different from m101-4 and m101-5, which seems strange.

The auction description is also interesting when it mentions that the same printer was responsible for E135 Collins McCarthy. I'm not willing to concede that, but if true, it fits with my belief that H801-8 Boston Store was the primary source of that set, out of Chicago where Mendelsohn was located, and not Collins-McCarthy on the West Coast. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
My experience, greatly limited, is that Boston Store cards are as readily available or moreso than Collins-McCarthy. What's your experience?
