I was able to add two pennants to my collection this week via a trade. These pics are a bit dark. |

Nice pickups Mike....I've always been curious how one likes both the Tigers and the Yanks? And how are you displaying your pennants? |

I've always liked the older teams in general. I love the history and players from the Yanks over the years, grew up near Chicago so I've always loved the cubs, and have spent the past eight years in Ann Arbor which got me interested in the Tigers. I also like the look of their memorabilia. |

This is my newest pickup - actually picked it up last night at an estate auction. It is a 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers signed ball including sigs of Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, and a very worn sig of Jackie Robinson. The ball is shellaced (sp?) and has some obvious condition issues, but I got it at what I think was a steal. The auction house spent alot more time fluffing up the 10 and 20 dollar rings and necklaces they were selling, and then sell this as simply some autographed ball. |

Terrific find Keith! It's amazing what can be found when one looks a little deeper than the average bear. |

Found these this morning. The first is a soft three finger Wilson glove from the 30s. Not a Hornsby, it's a model 607. I'll post a pic after I do an overhaul on it. The cloth label is in great shape but dusty. The second is a droor front from a hardware store. The guy had a stack of them, with things like screws, hammers, drill bits, etc. painted on the front. I dug through them and found this one! I like it a lot. |

1910 Hartford Wisconsin...If you look closely some of the members of the team are wearing jerseys with a faint "L" on the left breast. Those would be Western League Lincoln jerseys. Guy Green owned the Lincoln club as well and by 1910 he was shortchanging his Indian club...he is nowhere to be found in this photo and I'm sure he was no longer traveling with the team. He would sell the team to the Beltzer brothers one to two years later. |

Thanks Dan, yeah I do have a lot of estate auction houses in my area. If I didn't have to work, I could find 1 or 2 every day of the week, but I pretty much hit 1 every Wed, Thurs and Friday depending on my schedule. The wife things I need an estate auction intervention |

If your postcard is of the Wheeling, Indiana team then it is a Minor League team...I don't know much about Wheeling, WV, but I'm sure they had a minor league team too. I'm thinking that's a minor league team regardless...very well financed team...Usually when you see a team with matching uniforms/sweaters, and more than nine guys you've got a minor league photo. Another factor is that the photograph was taken by a professional. |

Thanks Dan, It is Wheeling WV as marked on back. I figured it would be a minor league team due to the professional look of them, and the large number of fans in the background. |

As some of you may know, I collect New York Yankee material with an emphasis on the years 1903-1927. Today, at the Hunt's Louisville auction, I picked up a ball signed by members of the Pirates' 1901 and 1925 Championship teams (and which belonged to Jim McKechnie.) The ball was signed in 1925, at a Pirates reunion. |

Nice pickup on the ball Dave. I bid on the 1915 Red Sox pin but got way outbid on it. I'm suprised at the final hammer price ($1600). This pin was in an earlier auction this year and it only fetched $600. Unfortunately, it was on the heels of the REA (I'm trying to remember which auction house had it but I can't for the life of me remember) and the pockets were bare at that time (actually, still are ). |

Thanks Bert. There's a guy that has two booths at the Brass Armadillo in Omaha that is filled with old sporting memorabilia...high priced, but I thought this cabinet was fairly priced considering how difficult 19th century Nebraska images are. |
