Default Gambling, Stealing, Killing and Other Pernicious Effects of Baseball Card Collecting

I am researching stuff pertaining to baseball all of the time - I often think to myself, the folks on Net54 would appreciate this or enjoy reading this - but then I quickly move on or I save the article for later "I will post it some other time".

I hope you folks enjoy these articles, as they touch on subjects such as Buying, Selling, Gambling, Stealing, Murder etc. with baseball cards or baseball photos being the common theme. All are from either 1910 or 1911. Or if you get bored - now you have some random baseball stuff to read

These are great, thank you!

Do you have a list of sources? I'm interested in where these came from... Awesome stuff.

I wanted to apologize for not responding sooner... I am out of town in Minnesota for the Asphalt Recycling and Reclaiming Association convention - so not much access to my computer. I wanted to say thank you for the kind remarks and I will post the list of sources hopefully later today.

I have more I will post and please feel free to add more articles if anyone has anything they would like to add.

excellent post! Thanks for sharing. I concur with Leon. I was thinking these were the types of things happening today to attain these coveted cards we so enjoy! I had no idea that this sort of corrupt and dubious behavior occurred over a century ago for these very same cardboard treasures!

Sounds like card collecting today. Keep the inserts/special cards and throw away the rest.. Not quite the way it was back in the day for us....
