Default Wagner T-206 Surfaces in Missoula, Montana

I wonder if the story of Wagners Distant Relatives passing Buzz Wagner has any connection to an Authenticated Wagner T-206 that has recently surfaced in Missoula, Montana. Local scuttlebutt circulating around the Community expresses that the Card has been Authenticated by Forensics and is in the process of further Scientific Evaluation and may be considered what is called a Proof Card by several Experts working on determining it to be so. Pretty Interesting to say so!

Any time I hear "forensics" and "scientific examination" I think of two things; 1) a scam and 2) the two black guys from Cincinnati and their fake T206 Wagner.

Why does it take "forensics" and "scientific examination" to authenticate a REAL T206 Wagner? It seems to me all you have to do is either get a REAL T206 common card and compare it to the Wagner OR send the Wagner off to a REAL third party grading service.

Authenticating a REAL Wagner shouldn't be rocket science.

I send all of my cards to a local forensics lab.

Interesting enough. Is there any news of the card online? I couldn't find any. Link please.

Default Proof Card

"Proof card" meaning blank back or print lines?

Oy, forensics, really? How about sending it to SGC, Beckett or PSA? I am pretty sure they all 3 get "Wagners" right, as least concerning authentication , just about every time.

Maybe it's these guys again?

If they were white guys, would you have said two white guys? Just wondering.

Since white's are still a majority in this country, he probably gave racial characteristics as a way of identifying. I doubt there was some nefarious reason for the inclusion of the skin color.

Not saying there was. I just find it interesting that we do this. It reminds me of the famous exchange between McCarver and Gibson:

McCarver: there's a colored guy waiting to see you.
Gibson: Oh really, what color is he?

Something to think about.

Carl the Exterminator: Jerry Seinfeld...oh yeah, he's that funny white guy.

George: White? I guess so...I don't really look at people in terms of color.

So much for an effort to make a serious observation.

BTW

I am Polish. Feel free to make fun of me as much you wish. Polish jokes are dying off so vent your frustrations by telling me your best. I am thick skinned and would love to hear them. I am not kidding. As my father once told me " If they are making fun of us then they are leaving someone else alone."

Here is a Link about Wagners relatives living in the Missoula, Mt area and the passing of Buzz Wagner. Just found this to be coincidental after hearing about one of the Wagner T206 cards appearing in Missoula, Mt. Don't know why it has not gone mainstream in the news...guess maybe time will tell...

Interesting..the Wagner at the bottom looks like it was written in with an ink pen...as a side note the owner of the Missoula Osprey is a member of this forum and a heckuva nice guy.

I don't think the Wagner in the photo is the one they found, it said the picture was from the HOF.

A "local forensics guy" isn't the place to go. This needs to go to PSA or SGC to confirm authenticity, then his auction will likely be a success, assuming the card is legit.

The Wagner with the tack hole and touched up caption has been around for a few years. Ive had scans of it for at least 6 years.

I don't think that image is the one that they are claiming to have found. That one (the same one that is shown in the article) has a photo credit given to the HOF.

Would still love to see what their card looks like. I wonder what the chances are that it was already rejected by PSA or SGC... thereby necessitating the need to try the forensics route.

William Peterson deserves some board time too--heck, with the way CSI is going, who needs PSA and SGC???
