Default Ty Cobb T206 Master Set Collection

Accordingto Scot Reader's Centennial Edition "Inside T206", Ty Cobb has a total of 59 cards counting all variation backs etc. (Green Portrait - 8, Red Portrait - 23, Bat-Off -19 and Bat-On - 9.

Who has the bragging rights for the most different T206 Ty Cobb's ?

I'll start - I have a total of 4 ( 1 each).

I'm in there at 4

I think we've got some catching up to do...according to the PSA set registry, Levi's got 18 different!

I've got five. Used to have six, but I sold my orange one a few years ago.

I've never been a back collector, so I have the four from the set and a dupe on the red portrait.

Default T206 Cobb's

Pictures are usually worth more than words....so, displayed here are my Cobb's from their respective sets.

.................PIEDMONT 150............................................... PIEDMONT 350

[linked i,age][linked i,age]

............................SWEET CAPORAL 350, factory 30 (orange color error)
[linked i,age]

.......SOVEREIGN 150.......................SOVEREIGN 350.............................SOVEREIGN 350

[linked i,age]

...........SOVEREIGN 460 is extremely rare (only 4 known)

[linked i,age][linked i,age]

.........................SOVEREIGN 150

[linked i,age]

......SWEET CAPORAL 460, factory 42 (overprint)

[linked i,age][linked i,age]

................Red Cobb with UZIT Military Series back

[linked i,age]

Hey Net54er's....this card is not too far-fetched....in the Spring of 1911 a UZIT brand cigarette pack
contained a T206 BB card and a T80 Military Men (gold-bordered) card.

Besides, Cobb is quoted as having said...."playing Baseball is like War"

Good thread. I'm out of the running with only two (red and green, have sold two Bat Offs and wish I had one of them back), but like to see how many different kinds people have.

Thanks for posting your response in scans, Ted. Very cool to see them all laid out like that.

Default One more Cobb

This one brings my total to 12 different T206 Cobb's.

[linked image]

P.S......I could not add this scan to my earlier post on this thread,
since it would exceed the allowable number of scans in one post.

Hi Brian- 18 Cobbs- that's an impressive list.

Ted- I don't think I've ever seen a Cobb bat on with a Hindu back...how come you didn't show me that one?

The green portrait and bat on have the biggest top borders I've ever seen. I love cards with huge borders.

I have three, just needed the one, bat-off. Then my ADD kicked up and I switched from cards to photos. Reckon I'll get bored again and score the missing link shortly.

Default 4

Only 4 here. 3 from board members and 1 from the bay. I have thought about going after the complete run but I didn't realize there were 59. Geez! Then when you take into account the really tough backs it looks like it would be nearly impossible and expensive, but fun to give it a shot.
