Default 1915 CJ Speaker - This will make you laugh!~

This is just hilarious, you've got to read the item description. "I am by no means a pro grader of cards, but this one appears to be near-mint to mint..."

I just saw this too. I was going to send him a message and tell them it was fake as well, but i didn't bother. The amount of reprints being sold as original on ebay is staggering and I give up on trying to police people.

The funniest (saddest) part is that the seller knows about grading companies, claims the card is authentic (based on what a local card dealer says) and will offer a money back refund, plus shipping and grading fees if the card doesn't grade.

So I ask WHY doesn't this idiot just get the card graded himself and NOT make the buyer jump through all of these hoops?

I mean, even if the card were real it would just seem logical that the guy would get teh card graded and gut the guess work out for prospective buyers and not make the ordeal of getting a refund back so long and drawn out.

David

I actually took a shot at this raw CJ on ebay yesterday, figuring it looked good to me on the small picture and was worth a $100 risk (which can be returned if found to be bogus). Any chance I might be OK on this one? (I am bracing to be laughed at for thinking this is legit...)

Peter, that's what I thought - I'm sure I'll be able to tell once it comes and I can hold it, but the corner chip looked legit due to the thin paper stock, and the staining seemed normal for a '14 CJ. We shall see!

Scott - looks good. One easy way tot ell with some CJs (yours included) is that on reprints, there is a distinct difference between the border color and the light/white used in the player image - on many CJs, such as your Bresnahan, the player's white jersey meets the border and you get an easy comparison of the two colors - as you can see on yours, they blend nicely.
