Default another t206 question

Posted By: andy becker

hi everyone,
i hope you had or are having a nice holiday.

this has been discussed, so i'm sorry to bring it back up.....but i have been searching old posts for a good half hour (obviously i'm not too good at it)...

is there a certain t206 sweet caporal back that is considered rare? something along the lines of piedmont factory 42?
thanks in advance!
andy

Sweet Caporals were issued with the following factory designations:

150 Series
Fac 25
Fac 30
Fac 649

350 Series
Fac 25
Fac 30

460 Series
Fac 25
Fac 30
Fac 42
Fac 42 Overprint

The Fac 25 is Virginia, and 30 is New York, both common.

I don't know where the 649 is listed, I think is is moderately rare. The Factory 42 is North Carolina, presumably the same as the Piedmont Fac 42 which only appears in the 460 series. So, it would be as rare as the Piedmont Fac 42.

I think the Fac 42 OP is the rarest of all of these, but not sure.

thanks dave.
i am familiar with the monster and t206 museum....but...i thought one of the factory 25 (not sure which series) is scarce. i'm not sure that there is any premium associated with the back, but if i remember correct, one of the "common" backs is not too common afterall.
can anyone confirm this?

Andy,

I vaguely remember a recent thread that discussed T206 back rarity. I don't believe it was the intention of the thread, rather the conversation just evolved. I tried searching for the thread, but had no luck.

Anyway, if memory serves, there were a few board members who felt the Sweet Caporal 460-25 was difficult. My personal experience is that 150-649OP and 460-42 are more difficult out of the Sweet Caporal backs, but that all of them are reasonably easy to find.

Regards,

Richard.

Edited to add: Here's a link to a recent discussion about T206 Sweet Caporals...

The previous thread brought in to question whetther the SC 460 25 was actually tough and from the population reported by some on the board it appears to be difficult. I personally only have 4 of them.
I think that the fact that there appears to be a low pop reported here without the knowledge of the back being tougher kind of stregthens the fact it is difficult. SC's are common but when you encounter so few like this I believe it is an underrated difficult card like the Piedmont fact 42. The SC fact 42 seems to be fairly common in the 460's.

None of the Sweet Cap backs come close to Piedmont Factory 42 in difficulty. The 460/25 and the 150/649 backs are probably the toughest among the Sweet Caps, but they aren't that hard to find. Sweet Cap 460/42 overstrike is probably the most overrated back there is in terms of difficulty. No way it should command any premium.
