Default Possibly O/T Does SGC routinely contact people?

Posted By: J Levine

I got two calls today on my home phone from someone named Sean at SGC with their 800 #. I had the two E-94s graded recently and that was all I have ever had graded with them (only contact I have ever had with them). I am now officially paranoid (re:Ben) and was wondering if they routinely contact people for things by phone? Any help appreciated. MAybe they want to up the grades on my cards.

In these days and times, you're probably better off questioning everything, but SGC is a very above board company in my opinion.

I know there is at least one Sean at SGC. (I think he's a VP or Head Honcho or something.)

The only SGC initiated contact I've ever had with them was the Christmas card I got in the mail!

Ok, what am I missing here? Why would what happened to Ben make you nervous about SGC calling you?

Submission forms include phone numbers so obviously there is an issue and like a professional compny should do they are contacting you. A delay in returning the calll will probably mean a delay sending your cards back.

Sean is the VP of Operations... put your fears aside and call him.

First off, the call came to me after SGC hours of operation. Red flag if dealing with any company. Second, Sean did not give his last name. Another problem with me when people call. Might be just a pet peeve but it just seems like the professional thing to do. Third, I already got my cards back, sold one and one is currently on ebay. If there is a problem, not much I can do about it now. I will call him tomorrow and see what is going on but I just worry about some of my higher priced cards. On the positive side, the number he gave was SGC's 800 # (was not able to check that from work---had to wait until I got home). Will let you know what happens.

Joshua,

I have received a call from SGC a few weeks ago - something was wrong on my submission form and my check wasnt written for enough money - they asked and I gave them a cc# to pay. Of course, at the time, I had not rec'd my card back.<br /> Everything was above board though.

If the numbers are different (ie sean gave you a direct #) I would still recommend that you just call the public number for sgc provided on the submission form/website and asking for sean. At least that way you know your getting the "real" sean and if s/o was actually trying to pull a scam (which I doubt) it will become apparent enough when sean has no idea why he would have called you.

I called SGC this morning and was put right through Sean. Apparently, Fed-Ex informed him that my package had an address change and charged them an extra $10. I told them I picked it up at the Fed-Ex office and that there was no change of address and that the info. was wrong. At first, I thought he wanted to charge me the ten bucks but it sounds like he is going to go after Fed-Ex. I told him I signed for it at their office and the address was correct. In my opinion that was a class thing to do. He was just making sure that I got the cards, was happy, and that everything was okay. I said yes, and I would be using SGC for any future gradings. A+ for customer service this time.
