I have 2 Joss pitching cards and they seem to have 2 different uniform colors. I just noticed this a few day ago. I have checked ebay and a few different sites. It appears both colors are easy to find.
card on the left is a Sovereign 350 and the card on the right is a BroadLeaf 460.
Is it just a color (red)missing or are there two different colors?

Forget about the colors...a Broadleaf 460?

From the scan it looks like a different shading, but not a different color.

Should probably be a 40 but there is a small crease from his left bicep to his left sleeve and a bit a paper loss on the back that breaks the frame line.Still very nice 30.

I have a few cards like that. The ink started to run out during the print run.

Well here's another T206 (if you wanted to see some more color examples). This is a Tolstoi back:

Not sure if you wanted to see some other Joss cards, but I never really noticed until tonight that the T206 pose is the exact same as the Turkey Red:

As seen together here:

Hey Jeff D,

I've never seen that overlay before for any T3/T206 combination. That's great!!!

Might that be true for one of the Mathewson cards???

And any others??

if I remember correctly and there ARE others. Will check when time permits as I'm slowly attacking the T206's..... I'm sure more advanced baseball collectors here will contribute?

Yes. There are definitely others.

Hughie Jennings is the easiest to spot, because it's such a unique pose:

It's clear that the detail of the artwork is much higher in the T3's, perhaps because there is so much more space.
This is evident in the Cobb, which varies in quality, but the pose and general shape is the same:

[linked image] [linked image]

Cy Young requires a tilt, and again the detail isn't there in the T206, but it's clearly the same image:

And then there's the Mathewson you were asking about. That's much more fun to view in movie form:
(for longer viewing hit pause and use the slider to move back and forth)

That is great stuff...

Cobb bat on shoulder

Jennings dancing

Joss ready to pitch

Young bare hand

Now you have both the dark cap and white cap Mathewson's there. My recollection was that the two cards were slightly different, that there was more difference than just the cap color. The T3 has a white cap??

I'm curious about whether there are more T206s that overlay with T3s. And then, are those T206s all from a certain series?

Thanks for the posts, Jeff.

Jeff,

Great job with the overlays! Very nice.

On my T3 website (www.t3turkeyred.com), I have a page entitled "T206 Connection", where I noted the long list of T206s which have "partners" in T3. Sorry for not updating the site lately. Can anyone else suggest additions?

Happy Collecting,
Craig
