God, I LOVE this hobby!!!

(Mastro) (Lipsett)
Missed out on the William Orsatti signed Gehrig so had to settle for this one.
Always liked the Cobb Bat Off Shoulder card. This one's got a smart lookin' Polar Bear back.
(Lipsett) (eBay)
Two more of my Dream Cards. The Matty is pretty sweet for a 5.

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

Those are DYNAMITE.

I won this one from Charlie's auction. I'm very, very happy with the card, which is stunning for the grade.

Russ, those are some great t205s, especially the Mathewson and the Young!

I love these things. This is my second B14 quilt. This one has Cobb, Johnson, two Wheats and two Stengels. This was purchased from the great grandson of the woman who made this quilt. He said that he had no one to leave it to and wanted it to be preserved. I can't wait to cut out the hall of famers and sell them on Ebay. Just kidding! This will stay in the family for a long time. By the way, is this Stengel considered his rookie card?

Big thanks to Shawn Adkins for the Lajoie. Would also like to thank Joe Jones and Brian McQueen as well. I should be getting my Matty back from SGC anytime now. I'll post another scan when it comes.

There are a few sets I like....so I have a few more than normal (which is 1)....here's 2 I added this week. Funny thing, I used to own this Collins a few years ago....the person that bought it from me sold it to another board member and now I bought it from him.....and into the collection this time. regards

Bob,

I have no idea how to display the quilt. Originally, I was going to hang it on the wall but I think it may be too large and heavy for that. That leaves a bed in the guestroom. Any suggestions?

Martin

I have no clue how to display quilts. What a great piece. But I bet that there are many websites dedicated to the quilting hobby that would have all kinds of ways to display, and probably even pre-fab things to buy for wall hanging, etc. Maybe an ebay search would even turn up an idea or two.

Actually, Joe's aware of it. We've been conversing about it and he's given me some additional pieces of great information. This is an example of a handful of Tomlinson cabinet photos of the Detroit champs. This one is slightly different than some of the others. One is the notation of Detroit being the "Champions" and the other item of interest is that the man sitting at lower left is Pete Conway...err...is head anyway. The original photo had Stump Weidman sitting there. Stump got bumped later in the year so Tomlinson superimposed Pete's head onto Stump's body. Pete was probably glad to be included but likely wasn't happy showing up with Stump's body.

Great Ornate Pins Joe....I've never noticed that there are different border designs on those before...of course I haven't seen too many of them next to each other to compare before.

Thanks Dan! Not only is the border design different, it is also bigger. It is the first I have seen with a different design and size.

Bill, nice Goudey's. I started this set last December and so far I have picked up 80 cards, mostly commons and minor stars in G/VG, VG, or VG/EX. This is a fun set to collect, and most of the non HOF'ers can be picked up for a decent price.

Have fun!
Rick

Too funny Joann , that is a great piece Rob picked up. The November 11th Hunt auction was a gold mine for 19th century collectors interested in Deacon White material or any of the teams Deacon played for including Detroit. I had my sights set on a couple lots including #846, a collection of 4 Deacon White cabinet cards. I did win that lot and expect them to arrive soon. In the meantime, Hunt shared some scans with me.

The following is one of my favorite poses of Deacon. The cabinet studio advertising on back is also interesting with an interesting depiction of the equipment photographers worked with during the 1880s. You can make out the camera on the tripod, a beaker, a tray, a lantern, and other smaller items.

Most of the Fearnaught cabinet cards offered by Hunt had some light back damage, luckily my favorite pose is pretty clean.

Best Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

Thanks Joe, I barely edged out Mark Macrae on this one and you know if Mark is bidding on a PCL item it's a quality item.

Darren - now that is funny. If you are actually interested, I got it from ebay. Shoot me an email if you want to know the seller. Think there is any chance that it crosses to SGC?

Some upgrades to current cards - The front of the Pattee is certainly brighter than the one I own, even if it is the same grade.

Hey Tbob- You shouldnt post a card on the pick-up thread before it is in your hands. The seller might not ship the card

Just Kidding, the card was shipped today!
