Who lost at the battle of old Waterloo?
I don't know, I don't know
Some say 'twas Na-po-le-on maybe it's true
Maybe so, I don't know
The pink sheets don't print Mr. Bonaparte's face
No stories about him today
'Cuz he never could hold down that old second base
Like his namesake Big Nap Lajoie!

Looks can be deceiving- PSA put a big crease in the middle of it when I sent in a cracked holder to be redone.

I didn't know that the M101-2 and the Baseball Bats Lajoie share the same photo. Are there other players common to both sets which also share photos?

This is one of those examples, IMO, that the imperfections add to the sincerity of the subject:

"To my way of thinking no contest at second base, Hornsby couldn't catch a pop fly, much less go in the outfield after them,, could not come in on a slow hit, Lajoie could not go out, nor come in, and did not cover too much ground to his right or left. Collins could do it all .... "

my Lajoie card (t206 throwing)has already been shown, but I do have this neat piece. It's kind of vintage

Frank,

That Lajoie is very interesting. What size is it? Could it be from the Felix Mendelsohn prototype set that includes Mathewson and Schalk? I know a board member has the Mathewson. Maybe he can post a scan for comparison.

Frank, I used to have a few of those. From what I can tell they are some kind of Cinderella cards. With blank backs and no indications on the front it is unclear where they came from. They so seem to share a lot of images with M101-4 and M101-5.

I must say that my favorite Lajoie, and maybe my favorite baseball card period is the T206 with bat.
JimB

Edited to add that T206 Collector has a nice one at the top of this thread.

Frank, the Lajoie strip card you ask about is in the SCD under 1915 w-unc. strip cards. I have the same one, so there are at least two out there. Best regards, Brian Campf.

....and I have to agree with an earlier post...that T206 w/bat on shoulder is currently in the lead for my favorite T206...

Its hard for me to say what Lajoie card looks the best because they all are neat looking. If you look at the rest of the HOFers from different sets, i'd say that the Lajoie ones are the best overall. Or atleast the top 5 anyways
