Hey All,
So, I am looking to take my collection to the digital world of the internet. (Hopefully, I won't get my Cobb & Young T3's stolen from my brief case in a hotel in Maryland, but if I do, I will be able to have some proof. ) .

So here is your chance. Share your site! I would love any advice and difficulties you faced in digitizing your collection.

Thanks!!!

My collection isnt currently updated on my site but I have had no problems with Webs.com and setting up the space. They even have technical assistance for the less computer savy ie me.

I use Homestead for my T206 site, and Volusion for my web-store. Homestead's advantage is that it has a lot of drag-and-drop editing functionality that allows you to avoid programming, but still gives maximum flexibility of design. The problem is that when they make software changes, it can affect your site. I've had files disappear and I still have no idea where they went. But overall, it serves my purposes well, and I asked around here quite a bit before I chose it around ten years ago. Tech support is very helpful.

Volusion is great for organizing and displaying your collection if it is large. Their tech support is really great - very bright people. Once you figure out how to do the difficult stuff, you can cruise right along, and when you need to make a change and forget how you initially did it, tech support can help.

I have an entry level Yahoo web hosting site and it is perfect for what I need. It is about $150 a year. I could probably get a cheaper one but have too many other things to deal with to cure an issue (price) that is negligible.

Network Solutions is really good. They charge $2.99 per month to host 300GB of memory. I know how to set up a web-site, so I never had to use their services. But I know that they do have service for your web-site. I have had no problems with Network Solutions and I don't know where you can get cheaper for a commercial site.

My updated site isn't live yet, and will probably be a few more months yet before it is. It all depends on how quickly I learn the changes with HTML 5. I love that Flash is becoming a thing of the past, and HTML 5 has complete multimedia support. I just need to figure out what gallery software I want to incorporate into my site, rescan all my cards when I get my new scanner, and rewrite the site.

That's all.

I use Squarespace to host most of my stuff at T206Collector.com

I really like it, particularly the gallery options and functionality

For the rank and file cards in my collection I upload everything to Picasa fee we hosting.

Like Jeff in Toronto, I use imageevent. It is pretty easy to use and I've never had any issues, although if you want to change some of the settings for a page (like image size), it only impacts new uploads as opposed to ones already on the site. My only advice is to get your albums set up the way you want before going too far...

It's $24.95 / year for 1500 images. That should be more than enough space. I have some hidden pages too for personal photos and stuff I don't want seen by others, so it's very customizeable.

I started using myalbum.com recently. It's free and I like the zoom feature when you click on a card. It is also easy to upload pics and change the photo order.
