That's pretty cool, Dan. I particularly like the name of the New Jersey team ... the "Skeeters." The name must have been inspired by the all the mosquitos in the Jersey swamps. Also, I wonder if the Mattingly in the clip is related to Don Mattingly ...

Got the chills watching these ballplayers playing a game 75 years ago. Ancient times. Very cool. Thanks for posting the link to this neat movie. Googled Specs Toporcer. Turned out he played for Rochester from 1929 to 1932 so that ID's at least one of the players. I wonder who Pooch was.

That's outstanding. Thanks for posting that, Dan.

What a pleasure to watch video that's so clear, featuring a Jersey team from so long ago.

That is great stuff, Dan, thank you.

I think this is part 1 of that opening day...

And that old 48 star flag looks pretty good...

I don't remember Silver Stadium looking like that when I was a kid.
Of course they can renovate a lot in 50 years. I remember my dad letting me run out on the field
there during a rain delay when I was about 10 or 11 so I could run and slide on the infield tarp.
Now I'd get tossed in jail!
Just watching that film from that angle, you know a couple of those photogs had to take a few fouls to the face now and then. Ouch.
