Default Louisville learnings. Let's see what kind of stuff you all have!

Hello all,
With a move to Louisville in my near future (wife and kids already up there), I realized that I don't know very much about cards depicting the Louisville players, local boys that played (outside Camnitz) or things that were distibuted in the area. Let me see what all you all have!!

I would like to put some area prewar stuff together once I get the move lined out, so would like to see what kind of options I have and just see what kind of oddball stuff that may be around. I have considered some of the easy to think of stuff like T210-6 and Colgan's, but what else can you all think of? With the ATL housing market the way it is, I may have to unload the T206's to cover the house selling damage, but having equity in the cards is one of the things that I use to justify the addiction!

Show some Northern KY cards, players, or anything else you can think of.

Thanks as always,
Bob

Default Look for the T206 Puttman from Louisville

I don't have a picture handy, but for some reason the Puttman card from the Louisville team in T206 seems to be a hot common. Maybe one of the many people on here with more knowledge and experience than I can tell us why that is and maybe show a pic of the very cool common from T206.

Not trying to hijack your thread here, I just really like that common and always notice it goes for a pretty decent price--plus it has a cool background picture. Hope someone posts it up.

Good shot there Leon, I can't wait to do the museum tour!

I am looking forward to squeezing in a game during the holiday weekend, and spent a few hours walking around looking at all of the bronze bats that they have on the streets a couple weeks ago. I am looking forward to living in a baseball town.

Thanks,
Bob

Here's that Puttman, but that picture of the truckload of future bats is outstanding. Leon, do you know the date of that pic?

Default Colgan's...

That Louisville Slugger Museum is fantastic! I have been up from Nashville a few times for a day trip to the musuem and to me the best part of it is actually seeing how they make the bats. There are some great historic pieces as well as a cool pitcher simulator that puts you up to bat against a 100mph fastball. Great City... Here is an Invoice from West Breckenridge St...

A visit to the Louisville Slugger Museum is worthwhile, but I must admit I really liked the quaintness of the "old" factory that was across the river in Indiana. The new one, in downtown Louisville, is very fan friendly. Just a little too slick. Maybe.

Make sure to browse the signature display (yes, there are more than four examples):

Only Louisville Slugger Check I've ever seen on the market. Payment to Bucky Walters for 'Exclusive use of signature on bae ball bats' signed by JA Hillerich. $1.00 and never cashed. He got a set of Powerbilt golf clubs in lieu of money but they had to have some proof of the transaction. Which I guess THEY didn't get since he didn't cash the check.

Sorry.....I'll stop now.......

Great stuff, Tom!

I'd love to know a bit more about your oval photo in the wooden frame, if you are willing to do a some more typing.

Best,
Charles
