Default Complete set of uncataloged 1972 Manama Cards

Posted By: Jim Manos

I think, pretty sure these are a Tokoyo card set. The set has half the cards of the Tokoyo Giants including Oh and have foreign writing on the fronts. There are 10 3-d cards smaller than the 1968 Topps test 3-d's but have 2 players a card when u turn the card. Cards are of the following Ruth,Gerig,Lazzari,Combs on one card, Reggie Jackson/Steve Carlton, Gerry Koosman/Sam McDowell, Willie McCovey/Tom Seaver, Mike Cnellor/Bill Frechan then 4 cards with 8 Tokoyo Giants including Oh. Complete set $600 ex condition. Sorry, but please ask for a scan if interested. Any input would be great if anyone knows anything about this set. Thank you.

Default Complete set of uncataloged 1972 Manama Cards

Posted By: Paul

These were issued in a place called Manama, which is now part of the United Arab Emirates, near Saudi Arabia. I don't think anyone knows why they chose to include U.S. and Japanese players. That's always seemed odd to me. Maybe those were the two most prominent baseball countries worldwide at the time.

My mistake. Manama is the capital of Bahrain, another small country located near Saudi Arabia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manama
