For what it's worth, my total from Legendary was over $31,000 with a shipping cost of $35. Somehow I suspect that they are eating some costs there, agreed?

When I initially received the invoice which listed the shipping total of $198 I was surprised because, well, that seemed high. But insuring a package of that value does obviously cost more than $35. While perhaps one can always find a shipper to do things cheaper I have no doubt that the $198 figure was at least in the ballpark considering the insurance costs.

Jeff-

Yes, I'd say they are eating some costs on your shipping at this point. But that still isn't a great reason to make others pay stupid amounts either. What is more bothersome is that they've obviously changed the shipping for some after receiving emails but haven't even bothered responding to others.

The cost to send a small package (weighing 2 lbs.) via Registered Mail and insured for $31k from their zip code to yours Jeff would be about 56 bucks.

Nice -- I wonder if I'll get any refund on my $61.50 in S&H for a single baseball card.

Just a follow up. Nobody ever replied to my inquiry about the excessive shipping but I was notified by them today telling me they shipped out my card. The $57 I was charged for shipping a single card worth $3900 went towards $10 ground service with Federal Express. I have been a loyal Mastro consignor and bidder for years so this really rubs me the wrong way.

Still waiting on mine... An email sent last week to Doug has not been responded to.

Anyone else (not named Jeff Lichtman)?

That is beyond acceptable Matt. Not that anything going on with Legendary/Mastro could surprise at this point.

Matt, I called in last week to find out where my cards were; spoke to Melissa who eventually tracked them down and I received them two days later. Give it a shot.

My single SGC graded set of 50 cards cost $38 to ship....insured value about $1K. Shipped and received timely via FedEx ground.

I spoke with Doug Allen after the auction ended regarding the lot that I won and he had the item to me in under one week and I was very pleased with my purchase upon receipt. No problems here.

Is it just me, or does it seem kinda weird that winning bidders have to negotiate their shipping charges? Are the people who dutifully pay their bills without questioning things subsidizing those who complain? This also has to be a pain for Doug to go through. There must be a better system for handling these charges.

I think the system should have been to be "reasonable" to begin with and there would not have been issues. We all expect higher shipping charges from the Major houses compared to Ebay and others but not charges up in the stratosphere.

I'm in all honesty quite pissed that a postal money order was in the mail the day my invoice arrived....included was my $40 shipping charge. They did a great job turning the lot around and getting it to my door, but I resent the fact that I was penalized since it turns out you could have negotiated shipping.

Sometimes it pays to be the squeaky wheel. Is there a better way, probably. Is the shipping department a profit center, I don't know.

Hello BOTN, I just checked shipping Fed ex for $3900.00 Michigan to Seattle as an example cost was $54.00.. $10.00 won't cover shipping and insurance.
Your shipping cost sounds reasonable.

I won one, standard-sized card for $720.00. Shipping was $32.75. I emailed and asked if that could be reviewed. No response. Bit the bullet and sent certified funds on 5/7. Have not received card. Emailed status request last Thursday. A couple hours later I get a response that my item has been shipped on 5/21. No card yet--supposedly tomorrow.

I'm not at all thrilled by this, but won the card at below my top bid, so I have no real bitterness. I do believe the shipping is almost arbitrary, that it is a profit center, and that preferential treatment is afforded.

So any update today Matt?

As far as the guys that received their cards timely, I think that's just dandy. But it doesn't seem to be the norm on a regular enough basis.

I guess I should've questioned my shipping charge also. I won a Dave Winfield game used bat, and was charged $38 for shipping. I just went to fedex.com and found out that the shipping charge for a package that size/weight is only $11 and change.

I paid for it immediately (mailed my check the day after the auction), and received the bat this past Friday (one week enroute).

I agree. Strep throat? That's kind of weak. I think we need to set some standards whereby it's ok NOT to collect when in varying degrees of health crisis. Maybe we can do a poll?

Things you don't want to hear during surgery
Better save that. We'll need it for the autopsy. "Accept this sacrifice, O Great Lord of Darkness." Bo! Bo! Come back with that. Bad dog! Wait a minute, if this is his spleen, then what's that? Hand me that...
uh...
that uh...
that thingy there. Oh no! Where's my Rolex. Oops! Hey, has anyone ever survived from 500 ml of this stuff before? There go the lights again? "Ya know, there's big money in kidneys? and this guy's got two of 'em." Everybody stand back! I lost my contact lens! Could you stop that thing from beating, it's throwing off my concentration. What's this doing here? I hate it when they're missing stuff in here. That's cool. Now can you make his leg twitch by pressing that one?! Well folks, this will be an experiment for all of us. Sterile schmerile. The floor's clean, right? OK, now take a picture from this angle. This is truly a freak of nature. This patient has already had some kids, am I correct? Nurse, did this patient sign an organ donation card? Don't worry. I think it is sharp enough. What do you mean "You want a divorce?!?" FIRE! FIRE! Everyone get out! Oh no! Page 47 of the manual is missing!
