I always wonder why someone would pay around $5K for such ugly looking stuff.
That "1/3" just makes some fools and their money part company.
Don't people realize this is an artificially created scarcity and if presented such a deal in their own businesses they would scoff at it.

Both good. Rushed, "ballpark" signatures, but both genuine.

"Rushed ballpark" or not, that is horrible looking. Why waste money on a Ruth like that one?

Does that question really need an answer Scott?? .
It is a 1/3 so some fools think it is special.

to be fair, authentic Ruth sigs are rare and $$$ enough that I think the 1/3 thing doesn't carry as much weight as it might otherwise in fancy card land.

If it wasn't so damn ugly, I'd happily grab one like it if it was cheaper than the avg cut or baseball Ruth auto.

Nick, Ruth sigs are not rare, but they are obviously $$$. A high price does not necessarily equal rare.

I am still not buying the whole "rushed ballpark but good" thing. From everything i've ever seen of Ruth he seemed to take great pride in his signature. My god he was practically a god back in his day. I don't believe the Babe ever had to "rush" for anyone...I still think the Ruth is garbage..no opinion to the other.

rare for me (I don't have one!) lol

yeah I know they are $$$$ , and they aren't "rare" like a Waddell auto, but it seems to me that 75% of the ones I see are fake. It seems fairly rare for a real one. well, compared to Mantle, Williams, Aaron...etc

Buy a check if your not sure of a Ruth auto. While it will be signed "G H Ruth" at least you can sleep at night knowing its real. Every time I have seen a so called "authentic" Ruth Signature I have always been reminded to the time I was burned and duped into buying a fake. Still bothers me to this day. It was only 500 bucks but at the time in my life that was a bunch. Here is my check...loved it since the day I bought it.

I think I'm gonna use 2017 to put a little $$$ away each week to pay for a Ruth auto (prolly check as you said, the balls are getting too pricey for me to stomach) replace my 50's era Aaron auto'd ball and an Eddie Matthews ball too.

I figure $20 here and there will add up over time and I will be able to buy myself a Ruth xmas present!

I really like the looks of the checks as well, seems cool to have something from the Babes bank account, the one I have was made out to his wife for 1000 bucks on a Saturday in 1940...thats 17500 bucks in todays money accounting for inflation. I can only wonder what trouble he got into the night before that warrented scratching a check off to his wife the next day for 17500 bucks hey happens to the best of us doesnt it?

I'm not sure how anyone can really even have an opinion on the above Ruth. I feel like I really really know Ruth's signature, but the above is so off the charts that I can't even begin to give an opinion on it. Out of the 8 letters, one can really stretch it and say that 1.5/8 are close. Not "good", but close....

It helps to have seen other rushed signatures, Brendan.

I trust your opinion very much so David. I just don't have enough experience in his rushed signatures to opine on this. As always, appreciate the feedback.
