Default FS 1890 Studio Cabinet - Boston Club Players League

1890 Studio Cabinet Boston Club Players League - Going to LOTG Auctions!!

There's some question as to whether this is Billy Nash or Dick Johnston. I purchased it many years ago as Nash but...?

Nice photo, but there is a fairly well known Waldon Smith of Nash, and this does not look like that one. I do not think it is Nash, but a very nice piece no matter who it is.

The image is Dick Johnston. My question is what is the basis for dating this cabinet to 1890? I'm not saying it is or isn't, just trying to get educated.

Jay

Hi Jay...I just googled 1890 Player League cabinet. Do you have additional information? Thank you.

I would investigate as to whether there were differences between the late-1880s Boston uniforms and the 1890 Boston PL uniforms. That might give you the answer. I only raised the question because some dealer used to advertise a lot of cabinets as being from the PL, when in fact there was little proof of that.

LOTG is a great place for it. Will be following their auction for sure.
