Default Trying to identify signer of 1885 autograph

Got this autograph in collection years ago, and have no idea who its from. Not baseball, since I think dated 2/9/1885. Can anyone suggest how I can find out.

I am certain its not worth much..more curious than anything. But since signer is responding to an autograph request and mentions he laughs when anyone asks for his autograph, he must have had some notoriety.

Thanks
