Baseball stamp/cover collectors?

I hope it's not OT to inquire if there are any baseball stamp/cover collectors in the Net54 world? I don't see many threads/BST offerings and wonder if anyone else is philatelically inclined?

Here's a piece that took me years to assemble in the 80's & 90's
The FDC commemorates the 100th anniversary of baseball in 1939
and all who signed it were playing in '39 except Hoyt who retired a year earlier.
Its now in my sons collection w/ instructions to pass it to his son, who's 2 now
when he can appreciate it. Perhaps in 2039

Yes, I have a few baseball related stamps/covers. Nothing quite like Jays cover though.

I pick up what I can find reasonably. And that depends on my mood. Normal first day covers at stamp shows can be really cheap, and sometimes the dealers don't organize them at all. The ones that do organize usually want realistic prices. Baseball is a popular topic to collect.

I also collect stamps/covers from other sports, and stamps in general. Mostly US, Germany and eastern Europe. I'm really into the US official mail stamps from the 1870's.

Jason--That is a very cool Feller cancellation on the cover. My daughter lives in Des Moines, not far from the Feller museum. I'll visit again this summer and see if they have any additional covers. Ha!

Patrick--I really like the hand-painted Centennial cover. If you ever think of trading it........just sayin'!

Being (slightly) under the age of 40, I don't really have much connection to the same era of the game as most members here, but I have picked up a bunch of the more recent covers for my Dave Winfield collection.

That first one is cool. Achway did a bunch of special baseball covers. Some like that they could plan for, others like milestone events and no-hitters were harder for them. I always wondered how they got ones for events that ended well after PO closing time.

Apparently they had a couple people in each MLB city that had a connection at the PO, and kept at least a boxful of prestamped covers in their car. When something special happened they'd make the arrangement to go to the PO immediately and get them canceled. The cachets were added on later. They also had some connections since they seemed to have an easy time getting some of each signed.

One of the books had at least a partial list of what they'd produced.
