Default Help with Thurman Munson Autograph

There is a yankees collection for sale near me and this piece is included. Is this Munson signature legit? If so, what is the value on it? Thanks for any help.

Don't like the Munson at all. Never saw a "T" like that and the rest of it actually looks good so who knows.

Looks like a good early career exemplar to me... minor leagues perhaps?

Very similar to the signature used on his 71 topps card

The owner says that it was obtained in 1968.

1968 Binghamton autographs.

If the Munson is real, that is quite a valuable piece. His first year in pro ball.

Take a look at the 1969 govt postcard:

Is $2,000 a reasonable price?

I am thinking that number would be on the upper end of the "potentially too much" zone for that piece. Love the boldness of the autograph but the media isn't the best. My guess is cut your number in half and that would be a pretty fair price for a Munson collector to pay.

I myself like signed programs and scorecards mostly because I have great memories of standing around with my scorecard waiting to get players to sign. And also because you can get otherwise expensive signatures at a deep discount because many collectors do not like them. The Munson is a great example. Because it is upside down difficult to display. Almost a certainty that this will one day be a cut because the market delivers better prices for cuts than signed scorecards. I personally cannot cut up a scorecard but understand when others do.
So I agree with Tom that despite a great autograph the media hurts the value.
