Default Musial!

nice Mr. Musial Phil!!

I assume you bought that one raw on eBay from the same guy who Paul got his nice Dandridge and who I got my Minoso from (posted below). He definitely had some nice Cuban cards in that group of listings!!

Look at my avatar to know how much I love that Musial "rookie"!

Default Big un...

Picked up in the latest Baggers. Very happy with this big dog, even if it is OC top/bottom. Paid for the item on 8/23 and it arrived today. BTW, was charged $6 for shipping/insurance and the actual cost was $7.34.

Default A few more pick ups for this month...

I'm keeping the La Morena but the others were too good of deals to pass up. Probably going to sell them in the near future to help pay for the La Morena. lol

Won this one for an extremely good price (please excuse the large scan):

Geno my old virtual friend, we go back a long time but for your sake, I sure do hope you realize that the Rube Manning you received from Pat is not a T202 card.

As a sidebar, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but for the past couple of years I've had a saved postcard search on My eBay. Actually, since I'm practically opening-up my inner soul to you guys, I'll also admit that sometimes I search the postcard section before I hit the baseball card section. Okay........I'm feeling a little bit better now!

Here are my pickups:

IMG_1285 (800x510).jpg

Always fascinated by interracial players from the pre-war card era. By chance does anybody recognize the team on the uniform logo ("S")?

IMG_1288 (800x600).jpg

And finally, I just love this pic. I'm always amazed at how close the infielders and outfielders played during the early part of the pre-war card era.

IMG_1291 (1000x645).jpg

"Lovely Day!"

Hey Iggy, cool pickups. That integrated team is the Nebraska State Prison team. I've had some images of them in the past along with images of the warden (large white dude on right) posing with other groups from the prison. You can PM me if you want and I can send you the other images I have.

Here he is on the right of this band photo. Warden WT Fenton.

Default Company F Walton, NY & Eastman College Poughkeepsie, NY

Couple of neat Photo Postcards.... 1904 & 1908

1. First is Indoor Ball Team State Champions "Co. F" associated with the Military out of Walton, New York. The back stamp dates it to 1904... Still trying to hunt down info on these guys. I really like the Uniforms!

2. 1908 Eastman College Football Team out of Poughkeepsie, New York. Seems to be even tougher to find info, but I did find the 1909 Baseball team in the Spalding Guide...

Not sure how or why I did the back scans bigger than the front? Oh well

So which Brown cost more??? SGC probably deflated the value of the "pictured" Mordecai by labeling it as Buster Brown. I would have labelled it as Mordecai ( w/ incorrect team)... But that's just me.

Nice pair of PCs though!

P.S. Phil - nice Willard Brown (not to be confused w/ Ray). Way too many Browns for one thread!!!

That's the best part! While all the cards were listed, there weren't many scans. I intentionally didn't ask for additional scans... I wanted to see what goodies were in there... and there were a few! Always fun!

I'll sell some of the lower grade ones raw, and send in a bunch for grading. There's a handful that I need for my SGC 40 set that should come back at that grade.

When lots are incoming, those are among the most exciting mail days.

For me, what is even more exciting, is purchasing a framed display of T206s, with no idea what the backs are. I've been able purchase around 8 of these, and I love doing it! One included 6 tolstois, 3 AB 460s, and 4 Sovereign 460s.

Nate great card!

Thought I would show a couple I just got in. I love the E90-1 Jordan with the print mark on side. I have all ways loved the colors in the sky.
I was happy to get the Oakes also even though it is OC.

Thanks Chris, Erick, and Bruce. It's vaulted to the top of my favorite cards...

The clarity of the ghost is incredible...

Bruce: I love the E9* series'. The artistry in these sets, and especially E90-1, is very hard to beat. Almost a combination of Obaks and T206s.

Oh, and Geno --- wonderful T205 Sovereign Brown! I probably got one of the last ones that was up for sale. They don't show up too often.

Nate

Default Splendid Splinter

So I started August with lots of will power and plenty of focus on slowly putting together a set of '15 CJs. Lo and behold, come the second to last day of the month I spotted a '54 Wilson Franks Ted Williams and I couldn't resist. So the Cracker Jacks must wait a while longer
