If I dig around I have a Cool Papa Bell that is signed multiple times on the front. I have a few other auto'ed ones as well.

That was my (3rd duplicate) graded '78 set in REA. I too was surprised that the raw one sold for more. C'est la vie.

On a brighter note, I landed a grail from fellow Net54 member Matt (1956toppsguy). This incredible card is now a centerpiece in my collection and I couldn't imagine another signed Satch I'd rather have. It's a Pop 2 with none higher, enjoy!

Apparently the Gibson has gone nuts since the full integration of NL stats into the MLB records.

I noticed that!

It has jumped from a couple hundred to a couple thousand over night.

The more insane jump to me is the Leyland's Josh Gibson Toleteros reprint. That was a 5-10 dollar item and one sold for 375/BO and the other current listed auctions are climbing into the hundreds as well. That is nutsville for a 2005 auction promo. I have a few and it may be time to let those go because that is definitely not going to hold.

All his modern issues seem to be in the same temporary boost that happens for a few months after a HOF dies.

That said, congrats to the current holders of a real Toleteros, I can't imagine they have not tripled in value and will likely stay there.

I put my 8 up on ebay at first as a BIN OBO. One offer, later retracted. Running now as an auction opening for a little more than the raw supposed sale, doubt it opens. Don't trust any of this stuff.

No offers at all on my raw NM MT Shakey's.

I bid on a few including a Charleston and the seller retracted my bid and canceled the auction. Something is odd.

An SGC 6 Gibson sold for 2400 this evening, but I suspect people think it will bump, looked massively undergraded to my eyes.

Hi all. Glad to see this chat reignited. Want to get a sense of where you all think the '74 and '78 Laughlin sets are going in the future. Been a crazy couple of weeks with the Gibsons.

My SGC 8 Charleston ends today. I don't expect an overwhelming price I think whatever is going on is limited to the Gibson. Whether it's sustainable no idea. I thought I got a very strong price on my 8 but based on where the 4SC listing seems to be headed I may have left a lot on the table.

Given what records he now holds and the lack of cards, Gibson is the obvious choice for a surge. I expect some of the players in the set with additional records that people collect, like .400 hitters, will see some price increases as awareness grows.

As a collector, it is a mixed bag: if you cash in how likely are you to refill the hole in your collection?

I bought a Laughlin and a Shakey's just to have Gibsons, but I was perfectly happy to sell them into the price surge, as IMO they aren't real cards. My bigger regret would be selling too soon, but it's hard to judge this one.

Nice result. I think the PSA went for $800.

Meanwhile bidding on the PSA 8 Gibson looks awfully suspect. High bidder with zero FB and the underbidder has bid about 50 times.

Looks like there has been a pretty solid bump in all of the '74 cards beyond the huge bump on the Gibson cards. 4SC should set the market on that for now.
maybe we will get a small bump in the '78 set.

For my personal PSA set, I would like to locate the owner of one of the two Martin Dihigo PSA 10's. I know Paleo has 1 of them, but would like to try and find the other.

I bought the Laughlin cards for the same reason. I think they're as real as it gets unless I want to burn thousands per card for Cuban or Venezuelan prewar cards, but if the prices hold up I will be selling too.
