Default Mr. T206 Competition!

WELCOME TO THE MR. T206 COMPETITION!!!

The T206 portraits are full of iconic images, beautiful backgrounds, great facial expressions, awesome hair do's (and don'ts), etc. This is intended to be a fun "March Madness" tournament style thread, in which our favorite T206 (portraits only!) subjects will battle it out mano-a-mano (based on polling of net54 members) for the prestigious title of "Mr. T206"!

Based on a highly scientific (OK, not really) nomination process, we have narrowed the initial field down to the following 32 subjects (in no apparent order): HOFers (16): wagner, plank, tinker, matty, wajo, cobb (green), collins, lajoie, bender, young, keeler, waddell, evers, walsh, m. brown, griffith; Non HOFers (also 16): shag, chase (pink), titus, beaumont, kling, dahlen (boston), wiltse (with or without cap???), lobert, mcintyre, merkle, dougherty, rucker, killian, magie, elberfeld, revelle. Some good ones missing, no doubt, but a strong field by any measure!

You can see the tournament bracket (randomized seedings) and follow the results here: http://challonge.com/mrt206

New match ups will be initialized as new posts, to give the thread continuity, but will also be copied here (below) to ensure the current matchup(s) are always easy to find. Subject images, for better or worse, will come from the gallery at http://www.t206resource.com, though fans (enemies) of a given subject are welcome to post their own better (worse) images. Commentary, humor, and trash talk [preferably in the matched-up players' voices] is highly encouraged!

Hope many of you will enjoy participating!

Cheers, David

CURRENT MATCH:

Ladies and gentleman, we have our winner, and a fine champion it is...

Walter "The Big Train" Johnson

wins the "Mr. T206" competition, defeating the great Ty Cobb 26-11 in the finals.

Thanks to all who participated the past couple of weeks!

The final updated bracket is at: http://www.challonge.com/mrt206

Cheers, David

Desiderata

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

I always liked Otto Kruger. Also, Roger Bresnahan looks like Screech from "Saved by the Bell".

I may be biased, but I really like the portraits of Ed Walsh, Patsy Dougherty, and Billy Sullivan.

Ha! Agree, Egan and his horse face wins that one running away! Though it could be interesting to see the carnage left in his wake...

Glad to hear many of you enjoyed this thread. As a fairly new poster, I hope it contributed to the fun on this forum, which I am really enjoying being a part of.

I see there are lots of other great ideas for tournament style threads above. Having already run this one, I think I will take a break from running others. If anybody else wants to run one, however, I would certainly enjoy participating! (I would also be happy to help with the initial setting up of polls, etc.)

All the best,
David
