Default 1922 American Caramel E121 - Ray Schalk Variation?

I noticed that my E121 - Ray Schalk has a white spot on the left side of the card. I always thought the spot was paper loss. Then today I noticed that there is one on ebay with the exact same white spot. Is this a variation of some sort? My Schalk is on the far right.
