I don’t collect a lot of E-cards but I’m pretty sure he’s in the following sets maybe even some others too. Hope this helps. |

E Card Question

I think it had a lot to do with the team he played for. The Washington Senators were for the most part, a pretty bad team during the years of 1909-1912 when many of these sets were released. Their players, Johnson included, weren't featured in many of these sets. Since so many "e" sets are between 30-50 cards, I think they wanted to take the more prominant players from the better teams in the league. |

E Card Question

I've wondered the same thing for a long time. Johnson's not in a single set from E90 through E106, except for the E91 fake designs. It may be true that this was because the Senators were such a bad team, but I'm not convinced. There were some third rate players in some of these sets, so it still seems strange to me. |

The picture of Walter Johnson in the e91 set is indeed his image, though other player poses may have more than 1 name - the Johnson in that set (opinion )is very classic ! |

E Card Question

The Walter Johnson card in the E91C set is actually the same artwork that was used for the Rube Waddell card in the E91A set, and used for Krause of the Athletics in the E91B series. Having researched this set versus photos of the players, the artwork on this card is actually a fairly decent depiction of Rube Waddell (I don't have one of these cards in front of me to confirm this, but my memory says so, so I won't argue with it). Any card in the E91C set (like the Walter Johnson) will not have artwork that is based on the player's likeness. They may have used the Waddell artwork for Johnson because it perhaps looked somewhat like the Big Train. |
