Here’s Ty from the Pittsburgh SunTelegraph. I’m sure there are others, but it’s the only Cobb I’ve seen.

Also a different Jesse Owens from Adam's LA Examiner stamp, Ott & Hornsby, and Max Schmeling for good measure.

Default I Hit The Jackpot With Baseball Sportstamps

Just got this 1936 scrapbook. Wow, it is LOADED with Baseball Sportstamps. Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Jimmie Foxx, Bill Dickey, Carl Hubbell and on and on and on. 90% The Sporting News, 10% L.A. Examiner, a great many All-Star Sportstamps. 4 are loose with clippings, never glued in. There are 60, all total. The scrapbook covers the 1936 season. I've got a ton of old scrapbooks. Never came across one like this.

The Sunday Advertiser was indeed the Sunday edition of the Boston American. Most of the newspapers on this list I recognize as part of William Randolph Hearst's publishing empire. He owned 28 major papers in 1935, and I suspect all or most Hearst papers included Sports Stamps in 1936.

Thanks! For once in my life in this hobby, I think this is a find! I can't see removing these Sportstamps from the scrapbook and ruining it. Somebody took a lot of time and effort to carefully put it together. Imagine how I almost went into shock over seeing Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Jimmie Foxx, Carl Hubbell, Charlie Gehringer, Dizzy Dean, and so many others. I have a full set of All-Star Sportstamps for 1936, I think. Wow!

Thanks Leon. It means a lot to me, sir!

Do you think it is fair to say that, other than perhaps some of the special "ColorFotos", that these Sportstamps are the leading or most desirable newsprint items? It seems that clippings from newspapers just don't generate anywhere near the interest.

Your'e welcome. It's always fun to make small or large finds. (large ones are a little better)
I would say these stamps have generated a lot of interest over the last several years. And I guess they took off a little more when the TPG's started grading them. CGC told me, at the National, they will holder them but are still working on their larger holders.
