Default New Adam Sandler-Safdie Brothers movie will focus on high-end sports card collecting

Uncut Gems and Good Time were really intense movies. Interested to see how this turns out. What do you think?

Safdie Brothers are quality film-makers. Will be interested to see what angle they take with this.

Still looks a long way off.

Whatever the outcome, I'm betting that it won't show the hobby in favorable light - too boring.

So a plot in which a hardworking but otherwise boringly normal collector saves his pennies, carefully evaluates card quality and centering, and periodically makes select purchases, taking out the precious collection to admire it from time to time, year after year marching slowly but inexorably closer to completing the T206 520 set isn’t going to draw gigantic crowds??!!

Maybe it could even be one of those movies with no dialogue, and all in black and white to make it seem more artsy.

So let’s say it is negative. Let’s say it sensationalizes and overstates the dark underbelly of our world. All sorts of fraud, TPG shenanigans and blatant bias, auction manipulations, etc.

Does that mean the market will tank because everyone will bail at the same time?

Or will prices spike 10x, because the movie drives increased interest in the hobby? Sort of the political theory - I don’t care what you say about me as long as you get my name right!!

And who is going to play Leon Luckey? Any serious movie regarding "real" sports card collecting will have to have an N54 component to it, else the movie is total fiction. Someone has to play Leon.

Unfortunately, Chris Farley has passed.

Sandler? They couldn't find someone better than him? This will be another one of his crappy movies.

Maybe it'll focus on a case breaker who will then yell and run around like a lunatic when they pull a "hit" from a box/case and refer to said card as a "banger." His company can be called the "Breaker Brahs."

It's an Adam Sandler movie. It's 2022. Three people will see it. It will probably gross less than Zzyzx Road.

Sandler is good when he's not in an "Adam Sandler Movie". This will be one of those.

This will be a Safdie Brothers movie.

I wouldn't be surprised if you were close to the actual premise when it comes out.

Safdie Brothers make movies about desperation and gamblers. This would definitely fit that mold.

What, not enough chicks in the flick?

A bunch of dudes trying to buy pictures of dead dudes on cardboard. Or they focus on the new shiny crap which would make the flick about a bunch of dudes trying to buy pictures of living dudes on cardboard. How could that not be interesting?

And just think of the drama that could be made when talking about a higher number on a flip!!! OMG, I'm about to crap my pants in anticipation.

If they're really gonna do it right, they're gonna need a lot of fat, unkempt extras.

...with leg tattoos. Because all 4 of these gentlemen in the photo have them (unless that one heading towards the camera has really hairy calves and ankles instead).

I don't have the ink but I could definitely fit the fat and unkempt definitions. Maybe I can be a star?
