RESULTS POSTED - Brockelman Auction contest w/vintage cards for top 2 guessers
The Brockelman Auction contest is here again for the auction that ends this Saturday, and you have the chance to score some vintage cards as seen in the scans below.
The auction: http://www.brockelmanauctions.com/catalog.aspx This time the contest will involve the first 266 lots in the auction (lot #'s 1 through 266). You will need to guess FIVE Prewar lot#'s (lots ranging from #1 through 185) that I consigned to the auction that have the word "LOT" in the lot title. Also you will need to guess FIVE 1942 to 1959 lot #'s (lots ranging from #186 through 266) that I consigned that have the word "LOT" in the lot title as well. An example guess of lot numbers would look as follows: PreWar (lots #1-185): 12 56 89 111 124 PostWar (lots #186-266) 196 212 244 252 259 The above guess would not be very successful, because these lot numbers do not have the word "LOT" in their title, but at least this sadly oblivious guesser did not guess any lot #'s higher than 266 Your goal is to guess more correctly the lots that I consigned than your fellow Net54'er. In the case of a tie, the first guesser is the top winner. The prizes are as follows: Top guesser gets his choice of one card from the two scans identified as GROUP ONE below, and 4 cards (or 3 cards and the group of 30 shiny cards) from the four scans identified as GROUP TWO. The runner up will get 1 card from GROUP ONE, and 2 cards from GROUP TWO, after the top guesser makes his choice. As a bonus, if someone identifies all 10 correctly (would only apply to the first who does this), then this person would be able to pick an additional card from GROUP ONE. You are allowed two guesses of 5 Prewar/5 Postwar, with no edits. All guesses need to be posted by 6pm EST on Saturday, March 12th, the same night that the auction closes. Good Luck! Brian The rundown on prize cards available (cards with strikeout in description below are not available): GROUP ONE (first scan): W517 Paul Waner 1936 S&S Game Joe Cronin Diamond Stars Kiki Cuyler W513 Herb Pennock W512 Dazzy Vance W560 Al Simmons W560 Kiki Cuyler W573 Zack Wheat W516 Ray Schalk T202 end panel Frank Baker W515 Red Faber GROUP ONE (second scan): E121-80 John McGraw E121-80 Heinie Groh 1919 Zeenut Stumpf 1919 Zeenut Westerzil 1919 Zeenut Cavaney 1922 Zeenut Williams 1922 Zeenut Cartwright 1922 Zeenut King 1930 Zeenut Wingo W551 Bancroft W519 Kid Gleason W572 Bob Meusel GROUP TWO (first scan): 1941 Double Play Moore/Mancuso Diamond Stars Berger 1936 Goudey Werber W573 Fletcher 1933/36 Zeenut Hunt E91C Street C46 Silton W560 Thevenow W560 Myer W590 Blades W516 Fletcher W519 Barnes W514 McCarty W560 Thompson GROUP TWO (second scan): 1939 Play Ball Hershel Martin 12 1939 Play Ball Harry Craft 65 1939 Play Ball Jim Ripple 66 1939 Play Ball Edwin Joost 67 1939 Play Ball Monte Pearson 71 1939 Play Ball Bob Johnson 97 1971 Topps Brooks Robinson 1957 Topps Bob Lemon 1953 Bowman Red Schoendienst GROUP TWO (third scan): W515-1 Johnston 1986 Fleer Sluggers/Pitchers Tom Seaver 1960 Fleer Judge Landis Cooperstown Post Card Christy Mathewson Group TWO (fourth scan): Lot of 30 Up and Coming player cards circa 2020 Last edited by brianp-beme; 03-13-2022 at 12:29 AM. |

Perfect...everyone has provided guesses in the correct format, and only one slipped up and gave an answer outside the 1 through 266 lot range. And nat, tiger8mush, and jcarroll84 have also provided 2 sets of guesses, which every contestant is allowed to do.
Nice start, and keep the guesses coming! Brian |

Great auction, and here are the final contest results:
mines_mint got 8 correct first, so he wins 1 card from Group One and 4 cards from Group Two. edjs also got 8 correct, after mines_mint guess, so he wins 1 card from Group One and 2 cards from Group Two. Thanks again everyone, and pm's to the winners will be sent shortly. Until next time... Brian |
