Lately I've been collecting auto rookie cards. If anyone uses instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goatrosters/

If not, I will try hosting some of them on here too.

The larger project at hand, is for each major sport I make an all time roster and then collect cards of the roster.
Figuring out which players make the 53 player football roster was fairly tough but quite fun.

After seeing Adams post, I had to have a "blue-flame"fart card for myself Best $2 I ever spent!

On the PSA side the AUTHs are obviously second-class citizens, but given how difficult some of these are to find at all, I was very glad to find this one.

The "Auth" wouldn't bother me a bit on nice box cut issues like that.

Great pickup Peter. Nice price and they had some other ones that were nice as well. They didn’t last long either.

Good stuff! More and more, mid 70s to mid 80s (born in '73) really does it for me (baseball and football). Haven't cared about TPGing in forever. Just putting together decent cards from childhood in binders.

Rarely post here, but got in a little lot I liked with some older stuff so figured what the heck. All came in one lot with the exception of the Payton. Not a big one, but a little Sweetness is never a bad thing. The Fears is by far the oldest card I have, and I think the Blanda is pretty cool. Anyway.....

Thanks, Jeff. It was the '68s that got my attention on the lot, but once in hand my appreciation for the Fears has grown. I simply have never collected things that far back and looking at this one has gotten me to look around at that and other sets/cards from the era. Agreed, the artwork and period poses really speak to the era. Might have to branch out a little. Oh boy, just what I need, MORE collecting interests.

One more (#23 Cookie Gilchrist RC) to complete my set!

Has anyone seen this card or have an opinion on it?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1948-Bowman...C/352857609129

I stopped bidding on PWCC cards after the scandal broke, and have continued to avoid them.

What's curious is this is at least the 3, maybe 4th time this card has been for auction this last year.

It 'sold' for 845 on Oct 31t, 688 in Sept, and I am pretty sure once or twice by PWCC before that. Seems suspicious as hell.

I didn't have much time for the local show yesterday, but managed to pick these up in one purchase. One dealer had brought a large stack of Unitas because he knew I collect Unitas, but as I already had at least one graded, and in some cases more of every one, I decided not to splurge on those. Added these to my early '70s dynasty Dolphins collection. The NFLPA iron ons aren't the most visually striking things ever, but a nice oddball and since I had the Unitas already these jumped out at me. Love both of the Kellogg's football issues, so had to have these as well, on my way to a graded set on these I think. And neither here nor there, but got them all for $32 which I thought was a really good deal without really knowing the values. It was a deal to me regardless.

I love those two OJ cards. Those action shots were what defined a great football card for me back in those days.

Nice pickups, Rob. I've always liked the Kellogg's sets too! Agree the NFLPA iron ons are not very imaginative but it's a nice little oddball set to put together.

Congrats!

Thanks, Jeff. Yeah, I love the Kellogg's issues, football and baseball (man I wish they had done hockey), as evidenced by the fact I bought both Warfields and already had a Zonk. Love the oddballs, would like to do the Sunoco and Wonderful World of Stamps sets someday.

Jim, I don't remember those as a kid. I'm sure I would have bought 'em if I had seen them, bought everything else haha.

I remember buying a few of those player patches from a shop back in the 90s.
They were in those little toy/candy vending machine plastic bubble holders. They were not sold via a machine at that time, but he had a box full of them in the plastic capsules. I assumed that is how they were originally sold, but never actually checked on it.

If anyone here happened to buy the heritage auction lots last night that included the auto RC of Stanfel and the other lot with Christiansen, and they were not the primarily reason for buying the lots...let me know!

OK I love the 1965 Topps football "tall-boys" and I love Topps inserts too. So why have I waited so long to start collecting the 1965 inserts "Rub-Offs"? Just arrived today so I'm off collecting another set!

One of my OBC trading buddies sent me this '48-'52 exhibit card of HOFer Marion Motley. I'm over half way there on this set with now 33 different!

Just picked all of these up today at a local show.

I guess I have a bunch of nice Gale Sayers Rookies now

Oh my goodness. Gee whiz, I'm just hoping to get ONE someday. Such a great card, or should I say, such great cards. Congrats on a great day at the show.

OK, hit an antique store today and my little score made me happy, so that's all that counts right.

Yes, that's just the Parker Brothers Pro Draft game, but what I got it for is the complete 50 card set that originally came with the game. The game is in basically new condition inside, the box probably EX++/EXMT. But the cards are just as nice, ranging from EX+ to NM for a solid EXMT group. Yes, I checked each card, they are all the PB version. Pretty excited with this pick-up as I'm a big '74 guy.

The other is the old 1972 Sunoco album and set. Yeah, the album has seen better days, but the entire set is inside, all 624, in much nicer shape than the cover. I already have a nice NM empty album in my collection. Just a shot of the Cowboys team set as an example. I have always wanted this set, but its a little pricey to build. Now, I definitely would have preferred they be either in a NM album or all loose, but for the price I am quite pleased to have the whole set. Just for my my own personal collection, so not worried about re-sale value.
