Default Small find of Uncataloged D382 Tarzans....

Recently there was a small group of (may I use the term) rare D382 Tarzan cards on ebay. The seller had no idea what he had. I guess he got diluged with emails and offers and I also emailed him....to let him know what he had. As far as I am aware I don't know of any other "Trophy" stickered D382s besides the one residing in my collection now. So eventually he pulled them off of ebay and another friend and myself emailed each other asking if the other got these pulled and bought them. We both affirmed to the negative. The seller emailed me and said he closed the auction and didn't know what he would do with them. I moved on and all but forgot about them just figuring they would show up in some major auction down the road. Then about a week or two ago he contacted me, as he said he would (though I was not a believer that he would) and asked me about buying them. We negotiated and I ended up getting them yesterday. Two of these are currently uncataloged (Crawford and Smith) and unknown from the set. I think it's always neat to add to the list of cards known.

Still not a single hall of famer in the set. What an odd player selection the folks at Tarzan had.

Cards look great, Leon.... But without your quarter, I am having a difficult time figuring out how big they are.... Did you lose your quarter?

He must have had to include it with the payment for these awesome cards or maybe he discovered that the quarter was trimmed?

They are original in that I believe they are period (1930s) to the cards. I feel confident Tarzan paid for the process and cards and then Trophy put their stickers on them, back in the day, to promote their own bread. Cheapskates....(I kind of like that though)

Can you reattach the Trophy that fell off the Urbanski card? Maybe a good thick slab of Elmer's glue will do the trick.

I was thinking duct tape.

And to round out the thread here is the other Trophy stickered card we know of. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see more of them too (though I am unaware of any of now). The Munns card was kept for his facial expression. It's great!!

Bumping a 7 yrs old thread
I was Speaking of Trophy stickered D382s with John Rumirez (hey John) at this years National. So when I saw one come up in Huggins and Scott recently I decided to add one back to my collection, after selling them in my original collection sale.

Excellent card! Tarzan are easily the rarest Baseball cards of the 1930's which is really kind of surprising since the company owner was a huge Baseball nut and sported a Triple A team. John Rumirez has some great stuff. I hope to be at next year's National to meet the both of you and talk cards.

What is the checklist up to now?
