Without looking at the pop reports I would guess it would be something around 20 to 1 ratio E121 to E122 cards.

Ruth
I'd ask glchen, he seems to have a very good read on most early sets and cards featuring the Babe.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the W575-1 Ruth from 1922 is even more rare. And the E121 George Ruth variation from 1921 may have the W575-1 beat rarity wise.

I think I remember hearing maybe 5 or less on the George 1921 E121-80 variations? Anyone have an accurate count on confirmed copies?

Thanks,
I think I remember seeing an old auction description mentioning 3 or 4, but it was an old auction. I wonder what could be crossovers and/or mislabeled cards though too?

Damm sweet card. Thought final hammer was a good buy for someone.

Are these amounts including both E121 Series of 80 and Series of 120 cards?
Just realized that there are no Ruth 'throwing' cards in the E121 Series set, so never mind. Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 12-05-2018 at 05:39 PM. Reason: Added 'my bad' edit |

E122s
Trust me. The E122 set is the least encountered of the 1920's American & National Caramel sets. This is one set even I never tried to complete.

HAHA...I learned that too!!!! And I also realized series 120 was considered 1922...I did not know that!

Bryan, if my sums are correct (it's late, and I'm tired), the combined PSA & SGC pop reports show the following totals for all players in each of these American Caramel sets:
E121 (both series) - 7,199 cards E122 - 275 cards E126 - 841 cards So, it appears that it should be easy for you to complete an E122 set.

Nice cards, Val. I think I have seen more mistaken identities of these than most other cards. Many times, especially by folks outside of the hobby but also some insiders, they are labeled E121.

Thanks for all of the info guys, that is helpful. Is E122 tough enough to be one of those sets where we might not have a complete checklist?
