Default April pick ups thread

Never started one of these!

This was actually a March pick up, but provides a couple good examples of why I love this site. Based on Ted's prior thread(s), I had learned that the rounded corner variants are indeed 1947 and Jackie's rookie card... and based on one of the 15% off coupon threads, I got a very nice discount. Long live N54!

I know it's not baseball, but the card doesn't really fit anywhere else on the board. I was finally able to pick up an Amelia Earhart Sky Birds card. The condition pretty much speaks for itself, but I grew tired of waiting for a decent one to show up on eBay. I figure I can always upgrade in the future.

The National Chicle Earhart card has proven to be surprisingly difficult to find a decent copy for a card that has over 100 graded examples.

I love history, and Earhart is one of my favorite people to read about. She only has five cards that were issued prior to her disappearance, and the National Chicle card is the only one that is even semi common None of the other options have even 10 graded copies on the PSA pop. chart.

Cool Collins, Leon. Below is another rare back (and rare front/back combo). Love me the rare HOF stuff. Now, I just need an HOF front 215-1 & -2 for a full HOF T206-front back run.

.....except for the Cobb back.

But that is still a great card. And maybe in a year or two you can get that Cobb back too.

Im sure there will be more "finds" of the Ty Cobb back card which will increase the population of them.

Was glad to win this one on eBay. Pleasantly surprised when it arrived. I was thinking the MK designation was due to some sort of writing on the back but it was not. There is a very faint black 'mark' I guess up near the B in Batter but I don't even know if that's it, to be honest.

I was thinking they may have put the MK on for the Fenway stamp but others don't have it so I don't know that that's it, either. This is one of the older ones I've seen that they graded , though, so I'm wondering if it could be. They now grade them as the Fenway Breweries set so might be worth sending back in if there's really no mark present.

The large diagonal line shown on his neck/chin, I should add, is on the case and not the card.

Great Day at Chantilly -- traded a card a have long been looking to move for these three; particularly soooo psyched about the Wags Mello Mint, (although the E101 is likely worth more and Brunners aint half bad either). Please excuse the pictures, best I could do under the circumstances

Ryan, although all 3 cards are great pickups from the Chantilly Show (a little plug for Joe D., the Show promoter), it's the E105 that really, really excites me! I enjoyed meeting you and chatting with you at the Chantilly Show (if I do enough promoting, maybe Joe D. will give me a lifetime pass to the Chantilly Show!), and I look forward to the April 28th collector get together you have arranged.
Best,
Val

Thanks all. Chuck, you guessed it. Val, great meeting in person and looking forward to catching up on the 28th. I saw that E105 at Chantilly and decided I could not leave without it, but the seller did not take credit card, or PayPal and I had a cash offer on my Paige that was a tad below what I wanted - so, we pull a five-figure, 3 way deal at Chantilly involving a 48 leaf Paige, 3 Wagners and a boat load cash - best trade of the early baseball season.

Meanwhile, the Chantilly show remains an awesome event. Great people, great cards, and free entry for net54 members is the cherry on top. And Demaryius Thomas is signing autographs tmrw!

And, the REA guys were of course there - holy crap!! It’s not even fair. I have never ever ever seen so many unreal cards in one place at one time.

Heck of day. Great show all around.

Nice cards Ryan! Liking the mello mint! I picked up this Mello Mint late last month, but just got the Cobb today. It amazing how fast Goodwin delivered the card; the auction just ended.

That`s a really cool piece Jeff, always find items with some "history" of the game the most desired. Enjoy it sir.

Very cool memorabilia/history, especially the negro league piece (very neat). Joshua, great E105- I remember that in eBay and was not surprised it was snapped up fast
