Default "American League" Ball

https://www.ebay.com/itm/162812150597?ul_noapp=true

love his story, and decent ball (although a tad overpriced), but when did the Cubs play in the American League?

According to his Feedback, the seller sold another Ban Johnson ball that he said was from 1925 with the same grandmother story. After the sale, the seller did not send the ball and eBay intervened. Buyer left a Negative on seller.

Is this the same ball and did seller renege because he found out ball was older and then upped his asking price?

Looks like the same ball to me, they just tried to clean it up a little, Same smudges, same lettering missing....same ball.

Hard to imagine that coming up with a lame story, upping the asking price by 3X, and having a feedback rating of 50% with a total score of 2 will land a nice buyer on this one.

Andy Frain did not start his business as security/usher services until 1925 and Wrigley Field was not in existence until 1914 when it was the home park for the Chicago Whales of the federal league. Looking at the EBay listing with its date of 1910 to 1912......I am calling BS on the story. That alone would make me stay away from this ball.

I asked him about the Cubs being in the National League and Wrigley Field not being open in 1910, and he changed his story from Wrigley Field to Comiskey Park.

If his "Grandparents" were only 20 years old at the time, they would have been born around 1890, 127 years ago. Possible I guess, but the math really doesn't work here either.

Why? One of my grandparents was born in 1900. Only a 10 year difference.
