List good baseball card stores in US
is a separate board for listings and reviews of card shops. Maybe a star rating system with comments. I know they are a dying breed, but for people who are traveling and would like to see if there is a vintage card shop in [FILL IN THE BLANK], would be cool to search for the city and see if there are any and whether they might be worth a stop. I have found reviews on things like Yelp to be ok but limited. I am sure I'm not the only person who tries to find obscure shops when they are traveling.

This could be doable.... If folks want to use this thread to list good and current Local Card Shops, with contact info, I think we could/would probably make a place for the list....

+100, I have actually thought in the past of doing something similar to this, but with both card shops and card shows.
As for my favorite card shops I haven't been to many but Rock's Dugout in Wichita, Kansas was fantastic! I would definitely like to hear about some other good card shops from everyone else. -Owen

I like it.
My now-fiancee and I went to Cincinnati last spring, and one stop we made was to a shop called Sports Investments Inc.; we actually went here twice, once as a pass-by, and once to go back and actually buy stuff since we had the time. GREAT shop. I'll be honest, I don't remember how much Pre-War they had, but I did end up picking up a 1940 Play Ball and some Post-War vintage. Pretty good prices, but the highlights included their memorabilia and the owners. Their shop's setup is museum-like, with most things for sale, but some very cool items for display only. They have Pete Rose's car, or at least they did. They have some Tiger Woods stuff, Griffey & Griffey Jr. stuff, all displayed like a museum (some for sale, some not). The owners were incredible to talk with, sharing Reds stories and such. Very friendly, and they assisted with other attractions to visit while we were there. I know they sell a lot on eBay, too, but their shop is a must-stop if you're visiting Cincinnati. Sports Investments Inc 10026 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45242 (513) 891-5000

It could also include other relevant places, such as museums with sports stuff or memorials. I know where 'the Gipper's' memorial is in Michigan, having visited it.

Thumbs up for the OP's idea. We've had any number of threads on this so I think there's enough interest.

If you guys will post as many good ones in this thread as you can, with contact info, I will commit to getting that kind of section done ....and done quickly as in 30 days or less....but the info has to be out here first and before the clock starts.....maybe it can have several columns and one with the specialty of the shop.....just an idea...

We have not had a local card shop in 20 years.
We do have a small local museum with a lot of cool stuff including these cards on display. https://www.thedakotalandmuseum.org/ There is 1 card from every decade from 1900-2000. There are 3 from the 1970's that are of the only person born here to make it to the majors. |

Lived in Carnegie for three years...had no idea the shop existed. I wasn't as active in the hobby then. I guess that explains it.

There's not much I miss about Indianapolis, but the Exchange is one thing. Andy (the owner) has made the shop what one should be since he bought it. I'm actually wearing one of my shop tees right now. I need to add a N54 one to my wardrobe!

If you'd like to see if there are any stores in your area you can go to : topps.com. Go to the bottom of the page ( click on store locator) enter zip.
I'm not sure how up to date this is, or what types of cards these stores carry, but you can stop in or call them and see what they have and then post on here any stores of interest.

No store suggestions, but instead a suggestion for the OP...change the title of the thread to indicate that it is a thread regarding good bb card stores in the US. Perhaps more people would notice and share info.

Not much vintage unless there's been a lucky walk-in and you time it right, but I always stop by
Baseball Cards & More 765 3rd Ave Huntington, WV 25701 (304) 522-1380 Will Morris is the owner and he always has some oddball Herd stuff, which I collect. He has had some nice finds here and there. I got a great T206 Green Cy Young there once. There's nothing left in Roanoke, VA. |

Champs Sports Cards
805 Regal Dr. SW #3 Huntsville, AL 35801 256-539-8985 I just moved to Alabama from Maryland about a month ago. Huntsville is such a small "city" so I was psyched to find out there's a card shop here. I've been there twice so far. No Pre-War, but they have a little vintage. Yes, it's mostly the shiny stuff (I do buy modern Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins) but the guys are friendly and it's nice to talk cards while spending a few bucks to support the local guy instead of eBay. They have supplies too.

I have never had a problem of walking in, looking at their catalog, and making a purchase though. Having lived in LA and in Overland Park, I have been to each location, and they're all very good, with excellent selections in post war.

Baseball Cards of Rhode Island
6861 Post Rd North Kingstown, RI 02852 (401) 885 7340 They have a small but good selection of prewar and some early Bowman/Topps issues. Also a lot of 1960s-70s Topps commons and minor stars that are great for TTM. And of course, plenty of shiny stuff. This is the store where I bought my first 1933 Goudey (Foxx) and my first 1949 Bowmans (Doerr and Mele).
