Here's a supplement of a team that could have won it all. A chance to be up 3-2 turned into a 1-4 series loss after the Cubs had an 8-0 lead and gave up 10 straight, followed by blowing a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 9th the next day.

Here's kind of a similar piece to the Chicago Sunday Tribune supplement, it's from the Philadelphia Enquirer of Oct 13, 1929

Closer to the original theme than my last post, this is a full sized newspaper page.

Cap Anson still holds Cubs career records for BA = .339 and Hits = 3,081. Anson was also an accomplished billiards player....and, owned a billiards hall in Chicago.

By far my favorite baseball book. The only one I've read multiple times.

Hey Ted, that's a great picture of Chance.Where does it come from? Do you know when it was taken? That uniform that Chance is wearing doesn't match either of his cards, and I can't recall the Cubs wearing that at any time.

Hi Sean

It's from an old Chicago publication (which is hidden in my miscellaneous stuff "junk piles"). When and if I find it....I will post it.

Here are some more Cubs related pages from it......

It is the 1903 uniform; the photo was taken by Carl Horner.

I have a question about the t206 Jack Pfiester cards. I know they spelled it "Pfeister" on the cards, but on my PSA graded examples they also call him "Jake" instead of Jack on the slab.

I can't find any other source that calls him "Jake" other than PSA. Are they just clueless?

There is no mention of Pfeister being called "Jake" at http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...fiesja01.shtml or in his SABR bio.

Fifth time a game 7 has gone to extra innings, and the first time that the visiting team won.

It is just odd that PSA seems to know so little about baseball history as to grade numerous cards with the wrong name--I've seen other examples of this problem. They are perpetuating a fiction, it appears. It doesn't give me confidence in their services.

I'm new to t206 collecting, but this almost makes me want to send an email to them to say "his name is not Jake" and get my card slabbed correctly.

My cards are pretty trashed (pic attached), but I do want them at least labeled properly.

And congratulations to the 2016 Cubs! Woooo!
