Default T205 collectors

Just an update on my set. The last year i slowed down on my t205 set but just picked up 7 cards this week, including a baker. Which brings my number to 116.

Would love to know how everyone else is progressing

Steve - good luck moving forward! I started the set in December 2014. Right now I'm at 77 cards, including:

Commons: 51/140 (36%)
Uncommons: 5/16 (31%)
Minor Leaguers: 6/12 (50%)
HOFers: 10/28 (35%)
Short Prints: 2/18 (11%)
Variations: 2/14 (14%)
Total Basic: 77/208 (37%)
Total Master: 77/222 (34%)

I also have 11/17 possible backs. Can you tell I also got organized this year?

Default Sovereigns

I completed the basic set many years ago, still raw and in my binder. The last few years, I have been working on a Sovereign-only set. There are 123 cards with Sovereign backs, and I still need 21 of them (plus upgrades, but that's for another day!). It is, and always will be, my favorite set!

Take Care,
Geno

I am down to 5 cards. I have been trying to do psa/sgc 5 or better, so I will have upgrading to do once I find those. It has been really slow going as I get close.

Completed my low-grade set last month. All raw and in a binder with the exception of my Joss, Cobb, and WaJo. I started picking up low-grade commons and beaters when I was trying to complete my T206 set last year and just stuck with it.

I have to admit that I wasn't that enamored with the cards in the beginning. It was more of a side project for me. But unlike T206 where you'll get some 'dogs' in terms of the artwork, the artwork in the T205s is incredible throughout the entire set. They are great looking cards - the Mathewson is by far my favorite in any of the ATC sets.

The next task for me has been to start adding some of the errors on top of my basic 208-card set (I have eight so far) and upgrading since my set is mostly low-grade.

Default Slowed

I have a SGC master set going but it has slowed to a crawl.
I have not added any new holes but have upgraded some this year.

I have a few more to send in to get graded...or I will just seek those already graded since the raw ones I have are low grade.

I have primarily mid grade commons (SGC 40/50/60) and low grade stars (SGC10/20). I love the way they look in the black slabs.

I have a really good start on a second set, maybe 35-40% but I don't know if I am serious about doing it again. I probably will since this remains my all-time favorite set and I tend to hoard my favorites

http://www.sgccard.com/usersetcompos...usersetid=3598

I might collect a low grade raw set too, since they look great all together.
With the ~ 260 or so slabbed cards I have in this set, it takes up a lot of space and weight. The raw ones I have are in top loaders and are in a small box, that's appealing in some ways too.

Completed my first set (minus the hobby no stats) several years ago in low to mid grade. My second front only set is decidedly low grade (wanted complete readable cards but the lowest condition/price I could find). I do have an example of every back advertiser including a couple of blank backs. I hoard this set but it has slowed with the birth of my son last year and some job issues this year....hope to start up again at some point but who knows.

Collecting a T205 Cubs Front/ back variation subset. There are 151 possible
Cards and I have 116 of the various cards. Mine are all SGC graded and love the challenge. Cards are getting harder to find but that happens.

Have been collecting them off & on for years! I have 206 different front/back variations, without regard to advertising!

If I counted correctly, I STILL have ~22 to go for a Master Set, but then what???

I have been REALLY enjoying "The Hunt" tho....

I have always said the hunt is a lot, if not most, of the fun I have had in collecting. The journey can be great if you let it be....

I had the spreadsheet at one time but I modified it to only be for the Cubs. Got it from another board member here.

I'm working on a Piedmont Factory 42 set. I've got quite a few. Curious how many are possible. I should've printed the sheet out when I saw it.

Yup, I wasn't counting blank. Still not sure if I consider that necessary for a completed back run.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a good handle on the population of blank-backed T205s - where would the blank back fall on the scarcity list? I assume fewer than Broadleaf, but not sure compared to Drum/Hindu?

ETA - Steve, I take it from your list that Blank is the most rare?

There are 12 Peidmont 42 Cubs cards to my knowledge. I do have a spare but would have to look who he is.

From what im told & have seen blank is the most rare. Drum is supposed to be the the next most rare, but in 4 years im collecting t205's i have seen 10-12 durms for sale but only 1 hindu.

Im no expert though, plenty of guys here can debate that, im missing both in my collection still, along with the blank and the black broadleaf.

I agree that the Hindu seems to be quite a bit more difficult than Drum, at least in terms of what has come up for sale in the last couple years. There is a Hindu right now at REA, that's the first one I can remember seeing for sale.

Blank is rarest...Hindu next...there was a find of Drum backs in St. Louis several years back and another small find in the south a few years ago that pushed Drum to be more populous than Hindu.

T205's are highly addicting, each one is a piece of 100 year old baseball art.

Just one more fun thing aout t205's is the text on the backs which says "400 designs" which is a bit of a mystery as there are only 200 and something cards.

The debate and speculation on if there was supposed to be more that were never printed... why was there so many stars not included?

Or was the designs, part of the bird cards or military set, or both.. which resemble the art work and gold borders.

Ahh the mysterious t205's with 400 designs, 1st cards with stats & bios, beautiful art and fancy gold borders. Like cardboard crack lol

Trying to figure stuff out, concerning the cards themselves, is a lot of fun. In type card collecting pursuits it can be never ending. The fact there are still so many new cards and variations being found, even in the more mainstream pre-war sets, helps keep it fun for everyone. The journey..

Btw, someone should do an official (could there be such thing) revision to the ACC.

Ahh the mysterious t205's with 400 designs, 1st cards with stats & bios, beautiful art and fancy gold borders. Like cardboard crack lol

I'm about 60% there, but really haven't added much in 2 years. Only picked up 1 card this year and it is a duplicate.

My son has gotten into cards and I'm spending my money there right now.

For an interesting current market comparison, there was a Hindu and a Drum that ended last night at LOTG. Both were commons, both were SGC 30/2, both were in roughly the same condition. The Drum ended at $1722 and the Hindu ended at $2337, with BP. I thought both of those prices were incredibly strong, certainly more than I was expecting on either one. I think I just got priced out of the Drum/Hindu chase!

Default NEEDED T205 PD 42's

As I am almost complete on the T206 PD 42's I thought why not look at the T205 PD 42's as well. I need the following cards to finish the common portion of the set:

Bridwell
Gibson
Needham
Steinfeldt

For the HOF's That I may not quite have the $$ for right now:

Evers
Huggins
Marquard
Matty
Wallace

Looking to buy if possible...Thanks

Default 205's

Took me a few years to appreciate the T-205's but I do enjoy them and collecting some oddities.

Really slowed down too. I have been trying to get back up and running, but everything else money-wise always seems to come up first!

Dan, not to mention that as I collect T205 HoFers only, now we are talking ONLY the Mordecai Brown Drum (if Leon still owns it) and the Hindu Johnson. Guess I will NEVER have a HoF back complete set.

I agree they both went high... although i do feel hindus are harder to come by and should go for more than the drum The t205 hindu psa5 kling went for $3300 with buyer premium in the last REA... having the funds of course i think that card at $3300 was a better deal than a 2/good for $2330.

In my experience hindus are more difficult... i have only 2 of them and I think 7 drum backs

Awesome cards....I have really been liking the PB backs lately as their front gold borders can be a neat shade of gold....

Picked up my first T205 the other day. What a beautiful set, and they look magnificent in hand. I'm on a pretty tight baseball card budget, so unfortunately it'll only be poor condition cards for me. This one was an impulse buy: the auction was about to close, and I couldn't pass up a Mordecai Brown. I got it for twenty bucks (including shipping), which would be phenomenal for even a poor condition T206 HOFer. Are the T205s that much less popular, or is $20 an ordinary price for a low-grade HOFer?

Default T205 set

I put together a 209-card (including Hoblitzell-No Stats) set 20 years ago. A few years later I sold it, but I kept the 12 - Minor Leaguers.
