Anybody else here play SimLeague baseball on WhatIfSports?
And if you do, are you a crazy lunatic like myself who doesn't feel right unless you possess a baseball card (preferably graded) of every player on your roster? And if that describes you, do you then take it to the next level by making sure each player's card is displayed somewhere in your home until your season is over? I usually stick with Detroit Tigers, so it at least narrows things down a bit.
If you somehow never heard of this simulation site, you build a team by picking from a historical pool of players that span the seasons from the 1880's all the way up to today and then join a league to battle other people over a 162 game season. This isn't a commercial for the site, I'm just curious if I'm alone in my WIS baseball card obsession. |

Thank goodness
Fortunately, I do not possess the same need to own a card of every player. I'm in one league that starts in 1885 so that would be an impossible task to find or afford. I will admit that in fantasy football I must have a card of each guy, but that's a lot easier, they are still playing.

My next team will probably have most of the same players with a few tweaks. Now that I have an Old Judge Toad Ramsey, I'll use his nice 1885 season without the "I don't have his card" blues. |

Why is Ty Cobb and Mickey Cochrane on your bench?
Never heard of Whatif Sports, But I did have the bug a few years ago to own a card of all my fantasy baseball team. I rejoined fantasy baseball last year and have had the urge to buy my players cards again, but successfully resisted as I don't want to get into the habit of buying modern cards! T.O. |

Cobb platoons with Cullenbine because I am using seasons where each only had around 300 plate appearances. The same with Hargrave and Cochrane. Players get fatigued and start to perform poorly if you push them past their real life season usage.
Well, if you start playing WhatifSports, you can stick to old timers and avoid the modern cards altogether. My regular season just ended. I won my division (AL East) by one game and it was the toughest division I've ever seen... |
