Not sure why i bought this. Seemed like a really nice card for the grade and thought the price was good. My first and only Cracker Jack |

I picked up a pair of 1920s-1930s Sociedade Industrial dos Tabacos de Angola cards, one of Rabbit Maranville and one with a wrong back but depicting an American player I need some help to ID. I will scan and post tomorrow. I know these have come up in a thread or two in the past but does anyone have any more info on them, like a checklist [any WTI owners out there]? I'd really like to ID that player #108.
Also got a 1929 A's premium from a soda mfg. with Grove, Simmons, Foxx, Cochrane, etc. on it. I'll scan and post that one too.

My two cents worth:
I enjoyed the national for several reasons. Lots of vintage cards for sale and many items on display by the auction companys. I baciscally only went to work on a 1970s Topp set, which I did. The part I enjoy most is talking to the dealers that I have dealt with in the past. Ron Vitro, E&R Galleries of New Rochelle, NY. The Father and Son of Scottsdale Cards of AZ. Terry Knause of Tik n Tik, officer for the National Convention. Met Johnny Adams for the first time and had a great conversation about him being a full time dealer since 1970. But the number 1 highlight for me was getting to talk to a guy who will be 91 years old soon. I reminded him about the cards I purchased from him at the 7th National. I was debating if I should buy the cards he had, this guy comes around the table and put his arm around my wife and tells her that it would be a big mistake not to buy them. My wife has aways been impressed with this gentleman because he is Irish just like her. I told her I got to talk to DAN McKEE! She had went sightseeing at Fort McHenry for the day, but was disappointed she missed another Baltimore Legend. Mark WVSportkings |

A Matty for a Matty......
I acquired this beauty from a fellow collector who was looking for a nice T206 Matty (portrait). I traded my T206 Matty,
and several Ben Franklin's, for this W600 Matty. TED Z |

Produced in 1910 to celebrate the World Series that year, there is also a Cubs counterpart. Not seen very often, especially intact. Nice pickup.

National Pickups
The card in the middle is prewar so maybe I can stay out of trouble with Leon. Oh and the checks are signed by Joe Sewell which lived in Tuscaloosa(my hometown). The Ruth is a SGC 10 due to a small pinhole.

My 2012 National Highlights
Here are a few items I picked up.
The Goudey was on a modern dealer's table. Picked up the Demmit for my set along with a 12"x36" original porcelain Piedmont sign for myself. Too big for my scanner. The postcard is something I picked up for Dan Bretta. He doesn't know yet. Nice items everyone! Jantz Last edited by Jantz; 02-07-2013 at 10:01 PM. |

Love the E94 Cobb, Jeff, the DiMag, Phil, the 311 leather Foxx in catching gear, the '29 A's composite, Adam, and the W600 Matty, Ted, plus a lot of other great pickups here, all around! Hopefully next year's National for me--haven't been there since Cleveland in 2009.
Best always, Larry |
