Default October Pick-Up Thread

With the Nationals out of contention early in the season Soto's great season flew under the radar. Collectors noticed though. If they can get him some protection in the line-up next season, look out.

Decided to grab a Marcus Semien RC after he set a MLB record for most home runs by a second baseman. He has definitely come into his own since joining the Jays.
44th home
Marcus Semien's 44th home run gave him the record for the most longballs in a single season by a second baseman.

This week's arrivals.

Should have picked up Miggy earlier in the summer, but kept putting it off. Won this one for about double what the BINs were in April and May. It's my opinion that Anderson is one of the most underrated players in the current game.

Quick post here to share my newest card of Greinke’s that I’ve been after for a while now. It’s from the 2004 Topps Cracker Jack set and it’s the rare SP blue mini parallel. It’s unnumbered but I’ve been told it each SP mini blue has a print run of /50 copies. I think that the “mini” designation is a bit unfair here as the original 1914 set was of the smaller variety and are the same size as these “minis” in the 2004 set, so technically the regular sized cards are “jumbo.” Anyway, the blue parallel works well with Greinke’s Royals uniform and being that I have slim odds of finding the white 1/1, it’ll do! It’s one of Zack’s lesser known rookies but is among the more appealing options he has. The set has a nice addition of history as well with the original being an iconic set and a thread through our National Pastime!

Hope you enjoy the card as much as I do!

Great Grienke!

Here are this weekend's arrivals.

First a couple more RC's for the collection.

Secondly I have been looking to add both a Topps Chrome and Bowman Chrome Superfractor to my Modern Type Collection. I've been looking for the right Bowman Chrome Super for a couple months. I had my eye on a couple and they all went for more than I expected. Then I saw this and I couldn't hit the BIN fast enough. 2nd overall pick and probably a $1000 card on release six years ago. Snagged it for about $30 delivered.

Nice pick up on that superfractor. They are beautiful cards that are way too expensive at first but are affordable after a few years and the game of hot potato has run its course.

I really like the looks of the sky blues, and are so undervalued IMO. Sure it's a paper card, but it is a parallel /500 give me that one over a mass produced flagship unnumbered rainbow any day.

Picked this up at a show yesterday. I'm guessing the dealer wasn't aware of how rare certified autographs of the guy in the middle really are:

Untitled by Brett Blair, on Flickr

It's signed in blue pen whereas the other 2 are in blue sharpie. The only other copy (a 1/1 of the same card on ebay) is the same so I guess they're all like that.

I looked at quite a few looking for a non mass produced card like you said and this one fit the bill. Not that I ever expect it to increase in value a whole bunch, or any, but I thought having this one was the smarter buy. Hope it looks as nice, or even nicer in hand as it does in the scan.

Nice Bonds Ray. I've always liked the '88 Topps Big issue.

New arrival for me.
