Default What Do You Drive?

Just purchased this 1994 Ford Bronco. I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone drives.

I think those Broncos from the early to mid '90s are really cool. 4WD?

I live and work in the crowded big city and don't have a car. About 20 restaurants, 7 coffee shops, 3 grocery stores, 10 doctors' offices, two vets, 2 drug stores and more within two blocks of my home, and I can get to and from downtown via bus and boat. I have a valid license and do borrow a car once in a while.

If it counts, my neighbor two homes down owns a jaguar. I've ridden it it and fine it rather cramped.

1999 Lincoln Continental. I love it. Have been told many times I should get a newer car, but it looks good, travels like a champ and actually gets around 25-27 MPG on the highway. Leaves me more money to spend on cards.

I drive a '09 Honda Civic. My drive for work varies, so I had to go with the best gas mileage and warranty for the buck. BTW, the newer Civic's are awful to drive..

The wife drives a '02 Ford Escape, which she immediately covered with Hello Kitty everything(Stickers, seat covers, floor-mats, steering wheel cover, license plate covers and whatnot), to ensure that even in the most dire of situations, that I will not drive it.. I guess any plans of using her car for work, on days with a lot of snow, went right out the window.

I hope you are feeling better. Obviously you remain both funny and wise. A few weeks ago I was in Seattle to see Mavis Staples at the Moore. Between the traffic, hills, one way streets, and parking fees I too would rather walk if I lived there.

I purchased a 2013 Camaro recently. After her car broke down my wife quit laughing at me long enough to confiscate the keys to "my mid life crisis". I am once again driving a faded, four door, emerald green, 1999 Kia Sephia. Like me it has a broken windshield, will no longer go into fifth gear, and struggles to go up hill. Fortunately, the wife sure looks good in her new car

Stripped the tranny/motor on this 1973 Oldsmobile Omega CS this summer, and all else, including driver & passenger side glass/rear seat/carpet/dash/internal panels/ front wheel wells. Replaced the front end with a fiberglass Nova clip-on.

I'll get rid of that a$$ ugly shelby stripe paint and restore it to the original Omega yellow. After the engine/tranny is replaced I'd like it to weigh about 2600 lbs. @ 350-400 hp. I'll be under 12 seconds of fun.

Oh, right now I drive a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville.

Just bought my wife a new Honda Odyssey, so I'm driving her hand-me-over 2006 Acura MDX SUV. I was rocking a 2003 Ford Explorer............so....an upgrade for me too.

That Kawasaki should be named Buzz Lightyear........looks just like him!

My wife has a Santa Fe as well. I didn't think I would like it because it was a "Hyundai" product and the reputation they used to have. Driving it sure changed my opinion about the car and the company. She hasn't had any problems with it and I would recommend it to others.

Since every group needs a tree-hugging electric-car nutjob, here's mine. Yes, it's purple, that's the price you pay when your 10-year old daughter goes to the dealership with you.

FWIW, had it over a year and LOVE it!

When I'm driving to a tennis match or softball game I take the 1957 T-Bird for a ride.

When I'm taking my wife and 2 daughters for a cruise we take the 1960 T-Bird.

I am LOVING those old cars!

I drive a 1996 328is. Nothing fancy, but my buddy was the original owner back when we were in high school and I bought it from him in '04. Plan on keeping it forever as long as I can maintain the rust which is forming in all the wheel wells and the trunk lid and non-structural sub-frame.

This pic is about 7 years old. My kids have since drawn on it with sticks, hit it with baseballs, etc and seems to be a magnet for parking lot fender benders even when I park it far away from others, so its lost its shine. Maybe I'll restore it when they grow up and move out, in the mean time I'll just enjoy taking corners faster than I should One day I hope it will be my "vintage" car like ya'll have from your early days, before cars started parallel parking on their own, and changing lanes, and lights turning on automatically and keyless entry etc.

p.s. I love walking/biking around town when I can and bike with my 4 & 6 yr olds to daycare during the nice summer days. Have been THIS CLOSE to being car-less but just can't pull the trigger.

Same situation as DRC until recently. My brother's wife was upgrading her SUV, so I said I would buy her old one. I couldn't remember what manufacturer, model or color it was, but he promised he would give me a good deal.

It turned out to have a grey interior, but other than that I was quite pleased.

I was able to ride in one of these last summer before they were released. I have buddy who is an engineer at Ford and was one of the main guys who worked on it. The one he had featured the self parallel parking where the car did all of the work. Pretty sweet!

As for me, I drive a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac. Just passed the 87,000 mile mark. I plan on riding it until the doors fall off.

Best,

Andy

Default My Cobb us worth more than my car...

And that is fine with me. For the first time in my life I do not have daily car envy, because the vehicle I wanted would not do well in my back yard...a Quattroporte in the Eastern Sierras...nah. So I drive a '96 Forerunner with 232,000 miles. Handles off-road just fine, gets me to Crowley (big trout) and back just fine. Scratches just add character, mud and dirt fit me just fine. Can't seem to hurt the guy. Everything looks okay and kinda works...like this beat up old fool.

Still, that Maserati....

P S. My wife drove Porsches and Mercedes for decades but they don't handle saddles and hay worth a damn. Drives a 2009 CR-V and asks me to drive back from Bishop after she has a Margarita or so.. seats are too short for me but handles mud and snow just fine. We are so done with SoCal.

Still, that Maserati, midnite blue....blowing up 395....

I am quite an unpretentious guy when it comes most worldly items, like cars, clothes, electronics, etc.

I can prove it by saying I've never bought or owned a new car in my 73 ys and currently am driving a 1991 Cadillac Sedan DeVille!

Just turned 130k original miles & still runs quite well. Still has the original muffler & exhaust system!

Only get about 17 mpg, the maroon finish is looking dull & scratchy, the automatic trunk lock is a bit balky at times, but the repairs are modest & it gets me back & forth to the golf course twice a week.

BUT---the BEST thing is---I've NEVER had a car pymt because my sister GAVE it to me several yrs ago when she bought a new Infiniti! She has spent more in maintenance & those damn low-profile tires in a couple of yrs than my Caddy cost brand new!

Default Hey Fred

I love those older Cadillac Sedan Deville's. A neighbor of mine drives one; and, it's fun to be in it for a cruise.

Practically all these current cars (BMW, Cadillac, Mercedes, etc.) look like some variation of a HONDA....and,
there's nothing wrong with Honda's (we have a Civic, and love it).

But, you would think if a car costing you 50K (and more), would have a more unique appearance.

I guess you and I are of the "old school" when it comes to cars I derive a lot of pleasure from cruising
in my old T-Bird's. My 1957 with its Thunderbird V8 gets 22 MPG when I shift into Overdrive.

Take care,

TED Z

Hey Ted--

Yeah, I've seen the pics of your beautiful T-Birds---Remember them well! I had my mother's 1971 Plymouth on the road for a few yrs in the early 2000's before I slid on some "black ice" just up the street & slid into a tree and a neighbors yard! Smashed in the door so I sold it "as is" to a guy who saw it in my driveway.

I LOVE not having car pymts!
